After gauging interest from other programs and finding out there was none I am a 100% committed to being a Vol fan!

“I want to be able to say, unequivocally, that leaving was not an option,’’ Pearl told the News Sentinel. “Where there was smoke, there was fire.’’

Why does he deserve a raise if leaving was not an option?
well he did say that he "wanted" to be able to say that..

What makes you think that if Pearl left that we were guaranteed to go back to those days?

My point is that he got a raise last year. I don't think he did anything this year to warrant a raise this year.

Tell you what. Watch what happens at Memphis when a successful coach leaves for another program.

I would rather continue building on what we have done the past 4 years, than to take a blind chance that we hit another home run.

If Pearl left who would we have gotten to replace him?

That is the question that must be answered!

Which reminds me..you were a no show at the KC and the Sunshine Band gig back in 75. Hoes everywhere!!

Me and a few buddies are actually planning on leaping back to that show in a few weeks. Are you in or are you in?

Let me get this straight:
Pearl and his staff have the best record in the SEC over the past four years and he's the third highest paid coach....

And you think Hamilton got manipulated for keeping Pearl for presumably under $2.5 million when he is 7-1 against the guy making $3.5 million and 2-2 against the guy making $3.7 million?

And, a school that's easier to win at and recruit to is offering $3 million?

Having talked to all parties and reported this, it seems all parties handled it all pretty responsibly.
Sounds like Andy Kennedy needs to take his 2-1 record against Bruce Pearl to the Ole Miss administration and double his salary. Jeff Lebo should also be able to turn 2-2 into in nice bump.

What happened when Roy Williams left Kansas?

Phil Fulmer is the only person who can recruit to UT; if he leaves who are we gonna get?

I've asked this same question before. It all depends on what candidates there are and who would be interested. I just can't stand the argument about his past and how he deserves a raise, but he got a raise last year after being #1 in the country and finishing 31-5. Nothing he, or his staff, has done this year warrants a raise.

I would love for Pearl to stay around for a long time, but IMO, he didn't deserve a raise.

You still did not answer the question.

Who is on your short list if Pearl leaves?

Someone have the boys to step up and answer this question. You want him gone because he makes to much money. That is inticing for a new coach to come to.

Please find a post where I said he should be gone. Wanting him gone and saying he doesn't deserve a raise are two different things.

I'm not sure if you were trying to ask a question with that last part, or if it's just a terrible attempt at a sentence.

OK. I actually agree with you that he did not deserve a raise on what he accomplished this year.

He did receive the raise to continue on the successful track this program in on, and to stabilize this program for future growth and success. Sometimes it's what is foreseen in the future that pushes programs to take care of their people now.

We know where we are and are comfortable where we are headed. If Bruce left, there are no guarantees, none, that we will continue on this path.

No one said that. Based on his performance from this past year, do you think he deserves a raise?

Ok, you did not say you wanted him gone.

If you don't pay him and keep him at a certain level, he leaves. You may not have fired him but the result is the same.

No one is saying he deserved a raise based on last years team. What we are saying is that it's worth it to give him a raise so that he doesn't leave for Memphis. Do you guys agree with that, or should UT have let Bruce go?
