So let us know if your friend doesn't ever meet her in person for a couple of years and lies about aspects of the relationship. That way we know we have another whacko around.
And yes, I am making assumptions, as every one of us is. ND going to bat means nothing. The university covering up for a heisman hopeful that won the hearts of non ND fans around the country doesn't surprise me at all.
You think they would back him if he came out that he was gay? Hell no. They'd try a different route.
I mean let's be real about for a minute. Your telling me that this All-American football player at Notre Dame has been in a relationship for 3 years with a girl he has never seen? So essentially he's been sex-less for 3 years while surrounded by plenty of hot girls who are more than willing, especially given his stature. People need to think about this logically.
*I'm aware this is fairly blunt but I felt it was a valid point. Apologies Mods if this is out of line
You mean the same institution that covered up a certain death that you have been fond of mentioning recently? ND is all about appearance. Te'o's publicity this year made him their face/figurehead/what have you. This story will mar that face, hence the attempted cover-up. That's why the press conference seemed so awkward and uncomfortable, the media articles did in fact catch them off guard and they had to scramble for damage control. They had to call a rushed press conference with the goal of painting Te'o as the victim, to save face. Believing him or not had nothing to do with them "going to bat for him." IMHO :hi:
I would normally agree with this.
Yet, saying things such as "We did an investigation" and then giving some details of what they found and holding a press conference shows me something.
Maybe they lied. I just don't know.
Also, while I highly, highly criticize ND for that, they at least were compliment with that. Keeping Kelly was inexcusable.
I'm not saying Te'o is lying, but 2 thoughts:
- I agree in 2013 it is easy/common to date online. But isn't he on record talking about seeing her several times? If so, that's a lie.
- If this was truly a hoax, what was the point of those perpetrating the hoax against him? I don't believe anyone knew who Te'o was before the season so it cannot be embarrassment. What was the end game? If it's money, I cannot connect how creating this fake girlfriend would get cash out of Te'o?
OK, they claimed to have known about this since the 26th of December, correct? Then why let Te'o continue to talk about her all the up to and after the NT game? Seems they would try to cool the talk down a little bit while they "investigated." Not adding up IMO
Seriously.
