From what Swarbrick said, there is some girl out there that posed as Te'o's girlfriend.

I expected Swarbrick to stand up there and talk about how Teo is such a great kid, they interviewed him extensively, they're confident he's not lying, etc etc etc. I expected them to leave themselves some wiggle room if somebody comes up with something more next week.

I did not expect him to unequivocally state that they have evidence from an independent investigator exposing the conspiracy and exonerating Teo. That is a pretty damn serious line in the sand. As I said, Swarbrick's whole career is on the line now over this.

That's what I figured.

Basically says "We did an investigation and Te'o is telling the truth" is sticking your balls out there. The fact they even hired investigators is damn telling.

Of course, they are probably exempt from freedom of information requests, so they can claim to have whatever evidence they want and they don't have to show it to anybody. "We don't want to embarrass Manti."
