Marlon Brown

I think it is a matter of taste. Ole Miss and SMU are renowed for having beautiful coeds of the old money, Southern variety. ASU is more SoCal culture.

Very true. I think Florida State is the total package. The weekend pool parties in Tallahassee are absolutely insane.

Anyways on to Brown, I think the key here is basketball. If CPF recruits him hard and the right way and allows him to pursue basketball we should be the team to beat.

Yeah, I do not know what Brown's lean is, assuming he has one, other than the line that he grew up a UTK fan. It does seem like more and more of the really elite prospects are committing early and then saying that they hope to help recruit other top prospects to follow them.

I think if you look at the fact that he is REALLY serious about basketball and the other schools he's interested in we are definitely a major player for him. I think he's an interesting case because he's an elite prospect, but hasn't had a whole lot of exposure until late. The good thing is that we were one the first couple programs to offer him and the only school (that I know of) that he visited this past season to watch a game. I don't think he'll be committing anytime soon because he hasn't gone to any combines yet, and hasn't heard from all of the schools that will potentially be interested. There is no doubt we will be in it until the end, but CPF closing of late has been a little suspect. We can't have that here, watch his videos...he's on a different level than Turner IMO and the consensus on the Ohio St. message board is that he's a much pretty prospect than Julio Jones and could be a top 3 player in whole 2009 class.

How do you know how 'serious' abot bball he is ?

not sayin your wrong........

Did a search on google for "Marlon Brown Memphis" and came across his myspace. Has a Carmelo Anthony background and some questionnaire thing thats had nothing but basketball questions like "Do you dunk or lay it up" and questions like that. His "about me" part was basically all about basketball and barely mentioned that he played football. Also I read that he only started playing football his freshman year because some friends asked him to.

Not saying he would be making a decision based on that, I'm simply pointing out that ND fans are already making an attempt to reach out to him and get his attention in any way that they can. He's young, 16 in fact, an older good looking girl can do a lot make a 16 year old think.

he will be a senior this fall right? i am guessing he is just in the young half of his grade

Seriously, why do you care what I think? Who am I anyway? If Brown grew up a Vol fan and your coaching staff does its job, how can you lose him to us?

Why do you even post here then, if you're self-admittingly worthless?

By seventh grade, Marlon Brown already could both palm and dunk a basketball.
Since then, the Harding Academy five-star football prospect has excelled in pretty much every athletic endeavor. With the 2008 National Signing Day all of 48 hours old, more and more colleges are focusing on the five-star Brown, Rivals.com's No. 13 overall prospect for the '09 class.

this kid is a must get for Phil

ban the negavols? please. this board would be so vanillia with just you guys and your orange tinted glasses

You are claiming that negavols make the board more interesting? You know what, I think you are right. More interesting in the same sense that Jerry Springer is more interesting because of the guests he has on his show.

it's called a free flowing exchange of cogent ideas. in a world where everyone agrees, well, if that were the case this board would suck. While there are Jerry Springeresque moments here, they are few and far between.

If we don't lock him up by December, than he probably won't be here. JMO.
I'm thinking he is already flown the coop. Some folks say that we should not worry about UGA, UF and others getting early commits because they are just picking up their in-state diehards, the low hanging fruit if you will. Well, Brown is UTK's in-state diehard who grew up a Vol fan. I just have a feeling that if he was going to commit to the orange he would do it early in the hopes that he could give his future team a good jump start and help recruit some other prospects.

Or he is like alot of big time recruits who just want to soak up the attention and enjoy the process. Eric Berry didnt commit this early and he was orange from birth. Give him time, if he wants to be here he will be.

Chris Donald?

Donald I worried about some but alot of regular posters claimed inside info that he was a Vol silent early on. Berry, I think everyone in America knew where he would go. Early commits are crucial to building a good class that relies heavily on out-of-state guys. If the state's top prospect was a silent Vol commit who just wanted to get his visits and a little publicity then I think the word would be out there on the street. I have not heard anything to that effect regarding MB.
