Marlon Brown

Trust me I've read the entire post as well as the entire thread and I just flat out disagree with you. I think Marlon has the size and athleticism and if coupled with good coaching and a good game plan he could be a gamebreaker...when it comes to talent evaluation I'll go with all the big time program recruiters like O, Richt, Tressel, Miles, Meyer....the list goes on and on. I watched the Tenn. state title game and he ruled with an iron fist. You may have some personal vendetta out on him but all of us can't be wrong....the potential is there. I'm sure Michael Crabtree had his fair share of doubters and now how stupid do they look.

No personal vendetta against him...come on!
Your opinion is like mine....nothing compared to the real coaches. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS???? I like the kid. He can play. Is he a kid that will break a game wide open? NO. I don't think so. I have seen him play enough...in person...to form MY opinion. You have yours. He can help the program. NO QUESTION! He is not the most important recruit in this class (talent wise). He could be the most important because he is instate! I(we) need him.

Based on the State Champ game.....I was there and I, you, and 50% of the posters on here (in our prime) could have dominated that game. Those teams SUCKED! Sorry. that does not count. He did well in the AA game. Not practice, but the game. That is a concern to me. Give me a little break for understanding the game and talent. I'm not a genious, but I'm not blind either.

you know peaygolf89, the point with Marlon is not really about his skill level. Everyone can agree that he is good. To what extent is up for discussion.

The point is his symbolic effect. When Kiffin was introduced he specificaly said he was gonna lock down the state.

Marlon was his first priority.

If we get Brown it is a huge statement that Kiffin set out to do something and he did it. That is big for him and his staff, the fans, the people who hired him, and it also sends a message to other programs.

This is about getting off to a good start in the Kiffin era and putting a good taste in everyone's mouth after a huge rough patch in the program's history this past decade, and especially the last 5 years.

I'm not in any ways saying that MB is our savior, there is much more to the fooball aspect that needs correcting. I'm just saying that to get MB is the first step in Kiffin putting confidence into Vol Nation and visa vera.

I have SAID that 100 times. That is the main reason I want him at UT!

I think????? we are on the same page.

Good Lord! READ THE POSTS!!!!!

Is Marlon Brown a Percy Harvin? Michael Crabtree? Calvin Johnson? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is is very good, not a gamebreaker. GET THE POINT!!!!!

He is not worth 1100 posts. If ya'll (those bashing w/o reading the ENTIRE post) can't understand. ........I give up! Get a life and understand this...6'5" and can jump. Great....I want him. He's the #1 player in Tennessee. ......I want him. He is a help to UT next year....I want him. HE IS NOT THE BEST WR IN THE COUNTRY! I don't think he is the best wr in Tennessee. He could help....I WANT HIM! Get over the fact that maybe some of you are wrong. If he becomes an AA ....I have said I would be happy to admit I was wrong!

Please come to UT Marlon........we don't NEED you...we WANT you! We are more fun than OSU/GA! IF you want to be the best in the country at your position....go to TSU/APSU. If you want to be good/slot guy that can play within the system, help the "playmakers" make plays, help a team win big by being a third down/Red zone WR......come to UT!

Ugh...

Brown is the number three ranked receiver in this class (Harvin, Johnson, and Crabtree were 1, 6, and 16th, respectively when they were coming out). Not to mention, he is bigger and faster coming out of high school that both Johnson and Crabtree.

So why is he not, like, a gamebreaker again? Fast, tall, strong, athletic, great vision...??

I'd say we need him not so much for his ability, but for the fact that it will look like we own Memphis.

READ ALL MY POSTS ON HIM FOR ***&*NG sakes. He is "ranked #1 in TN". I just don't think he is the best WR in the state. He is not faster than Johnson or Crabtree...I don't care what a stopwatch says with no pads. SLOOOWER. I still want him. Do ya'll not understand?

BTW...RhodeIslandVol.....Have you SEEN him play???? IF you have, you can have a real opinion. If not ...stop.

No one will be right or wrong til he gears up and takes the field in the fall. Whether right or wrong, I'd rather be one or the other with him wearing Orange... GO VOLS!!

I would rather have him as a VOL than anyone else. That has always been my point.
Great player as a slot guy, not a gamebreaker. Possession guys are needed. I think he could help. Ask Patrick Turner!

after the first play of the UA game, Darren Myles disagrees with this statement

Greg Carr averaged over 20 yards per catch as a freshman. He also scored 9 TDs. If Marlon Brown can do that, I'll be more than happy.

News is that drayton is at the coaches convention looking around, him and brown are real close, if he isnt retained what does this do to our chances with him?

His granny likes CMR. That could be too much to overcome.

I know I have said that I didn't want Freeze on staff, but if he were right now, he would win the granny hands down. Freeze coached at a small private school in Memphis and was O's best recruiter at Ole Miss. Not to mention that Freeze's true Christian personality would turn her towards the Orange light....

I'd say it eliminates us. I read just today where Marlon said he and Drayton have a real good relationship and he hopes Tn retains him.

Now lets debate...which came first..the chicken or the egg?

its just that he's stated his desire to see drayton stay and that it would affect tennessee greatly of he was gone. now that drayton's in play with syracuse and nd, doesnt look good.

I certainly don't follow this as closely as you do Rex...but I think MB made his decision months ago.
