Everything that he has said and done up to this point tells me that this rumor is most likely BS.

I am just praying that we are still in the mix.

what does drayton have to do with anything? its my understanding that kiffin made the trip to see MB after he signed as coach. and its my understanding that monte and coach O went to see him as well. Iv never herd any story about drayton going to see him. MB is gonna come to UT b/c he wants to be a vol and kiffin promising him the world. Not b/c drayton. Drayton was an rb coach. not a wr coach. Im sure im wrong on this.

Complete BS. Marlon wants to make his announcement a big deal. He's not going to eliminate one of his top schools this early.

For some reason, I see Marlon as a statement recruit for this staff. They want him as much as any prospect they are pursuing. A commitment from him would speak volumes about the ability of this staff to pull in the talent and go a long way toward proving that we are securing the borders. Just a thought.

i totally agree, Sab. Kiff getting MB, after announcing him in his presser, does speak volumes. i dont know, for sure, if we do get MB, but he would be missing out on a golden opportunity to be a headliner, here at UT.

Somebody posted a quote from Brown where he was talking about being so close to Drayton and that if Drayton was let go it would definitely "affect" his decision...who knows what he meant by this or if he even said this at all...the fact remains that Sabanoccio is right and that we wont know until NSD what the he11 Marlon Brown wants...mainly because I don't think even he knows that. Just one mans opinion, though.

Wasn't Drayton working with him while Phil was HC? I doubt it. I thought this was all Lane! Go send new WR coach, Frank Wilson, to see him.

Brown is a statement catch for Lane. I hope we get him, but I see a couple out there we could get if he falls thru.

I don't know...the WR targets are looking worse...but it's just hard to tell. You can't be completely accurate when judging an 18 yr.olds comments and reading too much into every little thing he says...but, maybe we'll get some good news in the next week or so.

The only WR's we are in it really with are Patterson and Brown. Stokes will likely go elsewhere, Patterson doesn't seem likely at this point, and Brown is far from a certainty. It's hard not to be a little negative especially with WR really being a need position for us this year.

Drayton was the one recruiting mb for at least the last year. As you can imagine they have built a pretty good relationship. If Jonathan Crompton wasnt so bad and we didnt have any sure options at qb i think we would get at least a couple of these guys. We BADLY need these guys though, especially brown.

Sad to hear we backed off Patterson - I would've liked him the most - I don't feel good about Brown... and Carroll would've been awesome... we need more speedsters.

I don't think we backed off of him. I just think he's been hearing more from Bama and Ole Miss. Probably not by much. It's pretty obvious that we need Pat as much or more than either of those schools. His visit will be of paramount importance.
