Marlon Brown

The level of competition isn't a problem for Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, USCw, and Notre Dame...

I don't understand why everyone makes this such a big deal.

Marlon is a top priority for a reason folks.
Who cares about competition...just pisses me off when people say big time players can't come from small populated areas...Marlon's got the talent. It's up to him to work at getting better and being a star.

Just read where Marlon has moved Ole Miss up after his visit. Glad we have his last visit....he is going to be impressed. We need him.

I wouldn't count on it. He just took his visit. He was high on OSU when he left there too.
He likes the spotlight and I think that he knows that Ole Miss is probably not the best place to get that spotlight. I like our chances because alot of attention will be paid to Kiffin's first year on the hill and Marlon knows that. Plus there is alot of social pressure for him to reside in Knoxville.

We lose out on a lot of recruits in Memphis because of proximity. Oxford, Starkeville, Little Rock and Tuscaloosa are all closer to Memphis than Knoxville.

Recruiting in Memphis will always be difficult for UT.

I'm with you. I think we get Brown and either Patterson or Jeffery.

Doesn't sound too impressed by the visit if you ask me. Maybe he's just playing it close to the vest, but at the end of the day, his UT visit will determine where he ends up IMO. I still think it comes down to us or UGA.

I was just reading that he has a 3.2 GPA and scored a 21 on his ACT. I am fairly impressed!

21 is just about average isn't it? I think that most serious college students should score at least above a 19. Especially if they are gonna be student athletes on scholly. Wouldn't you study like hell for your ACT/SAT test if a free education and chance to play big time college football was on the line?

Should we be upset if we don't get him? I would rather have him at Ole Miss than GA. Heck I would rather have him at OSU honestly if he doesn't come here!

I believe the national average is around 21, but the majority of student athletes score lower. Alot of these kids don't know how to balance football with their schooling. This is especially the case among many of the more talented athletes.

It seems that Brown has learned how to balance his responsibilities. It shows maturity on his part.

21 is a solid test score for the act. I look more at the GPA than the test score from one standardized test.

the test score is more credible than the GPA. Some kids go to schools where they get preferential treatment, some don't. Some take difficult classes, some don't. It's more than just your standard "Some kid studies, the other doesn't."

Yea I know I'm in my last year of college to become a teacher/coach. But i hate to put so much stress into one test. If the test score is around the 19 mark I don't get to worried.

I provided examples though. :p

Yeah, but I'm sure Harding holds its kids to a higher academic standard. The 3.2 is more likely a sign of him hitting the books when he isn't working out. It shows he has some work ethic, and that always translates better to college than doing well on one test.

Ask me how I know.
