Marlon Brown

The answer to the inviting to church question is yes. The answer to the invite him home after is not every Sunday.
The answer to "maybe it's just me" is no.
The thing is, religion is a huge issue for the Brown family. It will weigh heavily in the decision. That is my only point.

I fully understand your point and don't disagree with it. I find the situation ridiculous but I can understand it is important to them.

People that have no faith cant quite understand why it is important to be surrounded by like minded believers. I can 100% understand why his grandmother would want her impressionable grandson who is leaving home for the first time to have a Christian coach. CMR is the real deal on that account.

I can understand why it would be important but anybody can say that they believe anything. I do agree that Richt has shown he is a good man but I'm sure the same can be said for lot's of coaches. Just because a person doesn't wear it on their sleeve doesn't mean they don't have strong faith and I am naturally inclined to distrust somebody who wants me to focus on their spiritual beliefs.

I think that speaks more to you than the person with the beliefs. You cant fault someone that is genuine because you had a negative experience.

rex any suprises wed ?

I think I may be as confused as I have ever been going into a NSD in the last 10yrs. To be honest, the Washington cut killed my confidence. I thought we had him. I guess Im starting to think that Tana may be our big shocker.

That's another thing that annoys me about this...if she influences his decision based on cussing or "non-Christian" type of behavior then all it means is that one staff convinced her they were Christian and the others didn't...

It reminds me of the movie Blue Chips...where Nick Nolte was recruiting and on each trip he convinced the parent/guardian of the recruit that he was a follower of their religion....he was a Southern Baptist/Catholic/Pentecostal

This is all so stupid...we're discussing the beliefs and preferences of a 60-80 year old lady

This coming from a guy who thinks the hokey-pokey is what it's all about.

J/k

I don't fault him for being genuine but in my experience people who are trying to attract lots of focus to their faith are usually trying to hide something.

You know the funny thing is......I never hear CMR talking about it.

He makes it known but I should be more clear and say that I am not referring to Richt so much as the idea behind MB's Grandmother's preference. Richt is a classy guy and represents Christians everywhere with class. A better analogy for my point would be George Bush. In 2004 a lot of the presidential election hinged on the view that Bush is a good, christian man whose values line up with mainstream America while John Kerry was portrayed as being too far left to be a true believing Christian. Nothing in George Bush's past points to him being a Christian other than his words when it fit his political career. Anyway, way off topic......

Ah, I gotcha.

Yeah...I'm sure Ed is just cursing away...."yaw yaw yaw...muthafugda!!!....come to Knoxville and be the fudgin man Marlon mutha fudgin Brown....hey grandma muthafudging Brown!!! how the fudge you been doing granny??? We gonna turn yo fudgin grandson into the mutha fudgin anti-christ...what the fudge yo think about that shite granny brown???....yaw yaw yaw wash my mouth out with soap mutha fudgers!!!!" - -come on man.
:lolabove:
If no one else does, I still think this was funny as hell.

The Buckeyes are also waiting on receiver Marlon Brown of Harding Academy in Memphis, Tenn. One of the top five receiver pro-spects nationally, he is considering Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Ohio State. He is not likely to name his choice until Wednesday, the first day that national letters of intent can be signed, but many analysts are predicting Tennessee.

Bucknuts recruiting analyst Bill Kurelic said that, considering OSU already has three receivers and three offensive linemen in the 2009 class, there is no urgency in landing Brown or Hall, that neither would make nor break the highly ranked class.

I talked to Marlon the other day and the only reason he didn't come on the show is b/c he had an in home from Jim Tressel came in town for a last minute in-home.

I wouldn't call that "no urgency".

I can see how a person's religious beliefs would play a big role in a decision like this. I don't know anything about CLK's religious beliefs, but I don't think he is as up front with his beliefs as CMR. I also look at the people that Kiffin has surrounded himself with. Ed Orgeron is a great recruiter, but he is not a christian role model by any means. If I had to choose based on personality and integrity between Richt and Kiffin, I would prefer my child play for Mark Richt. That is my honest opinion.
