This is a great argument. But, I have a buddy that was raised this way. No living with. Only after marriage. Both his marriages failed after a year each. This last time, he went against these ideals and seems much happier.
I know it's only one example, and I sure there are examples of it contradicting this.
I do however think you are right about the length. 5 years is too long.
Holiday's can be bad. Hang in there, don't let it get you too down. Get out and do something. Don't just sit home and dwell on the situation. I've been there. You will survive.
I think divorce is a genetic trait. We've been married 25 years and neither of us came from divorced parents. Anecdotally it seems like divorced people seem to come from divorced families.
? Marriage and divorce are social constructs. One can make the argument that it is social/cultural in nature. If you are exposed to more divorce (messed up family life) you are more likely to divorce yourself. Genetics, not so much.
Parents are currently going through divorce. Just reinforces my opinion that marriage is hogwash. If someone loves me and I love them, there's absolutely no point to get married. They'll understand.
Merry Christmas to my family. I love you all & I hope all is well. God is love. Jesus is the proof. Thanks to all my VN family. You all helped me through this tough time. I am forever grateful. Happy holidays to all.

No. Marriage and divorce are legal constructs
Genetics can and do play the biggest part
Ie: adultery, gambling, to just name a few
