My worry after reading that article is that supposedly ccm has had talks with a community college coach who was a former Illinois player who he'd like to join his staff.
If true thats very alarming. Also odd that this all occurred in less than 24 hours. CCM loses to MTSU and then is on the horn with Illinois??? Seriously???
Ugh.
I hope there is no truth to it, but Illinois may be or used to be a top 10 job in college basketball.
Tubby Smith supposedly has high morals and negotiated with Minnesota behind UK's back. I trust none of them. Granted Tubby could smell the coffee, but that is beside the point.
Supposedly Shaka isn't going though. He wants entirely too much money supposedly.
Time will tell. Until I hear something definitive I will not feel good about this.
Which is why I worry Illinois is past him and now looking hard at CCM.Shaka is in a unique position. Similar to Brad Stevens. He is very happy being at a small school with little pressure and tons of built-up equity. They pay him well, and it allows him to command a high price to prospective schools. If someone wants to pay him 3.5 million dollars, fine. If not, he is happy where he is. He has said it before; if it were about the money, he'd be gone. It's just not all about money for him and his family.
