I don't think that's the intent of that sentence. Maybe rewording it to say " I honestly don't see how you can say, cut and dry, Duke wouldn't beat UK."

At least that's how it reads to me.

Now you're just arguing Eng comp. I know the way it was written could have been read two ways. But based on his posts since then, I believe ( only my opinion) that the way I reworded it, correctly reflects his intent. JMO

Zan, I believe his comments since then have been more of a thinly veiled retraction since he realized he spoke out of both sides of his mouth.

One of your more sensible posts. Cal's first UK team was a great collection of individual talent, but not a great team, and was not committed to playing defense at a high level. They also struggled at times, both shooting the 3 and defending the 3. WVU exposed this in the Elite 8 matchup.

This UK team is a collection of great talent that also plays as a great team. They defend well, they have 3 consistent outside shooting threats, and virtually no one will beat them on the inside because of Davis' defensive ability. Cal has done a fantastic job landing these kids, molding them into a team, and committing them to elite-level defense.

I love Cuonzo and what he has done this year, but it's Calipari by a pretty wide margin. For those saying he's not a good coach, please STFU and stop embarrassing yourself and our fanbase . Cal can coach with the very best of them. I don't particularly care for him, but you have to give the man credit.

Yes, which should have been obvious by previous/later posts. No matter though, I've placed my bet and if BlueBalls isn't confident enough anymore to take the bet then he shouldn't have run his mouth in the first place.

Hell, you throw a comma in there before cut and dry and it's obvious. Sorry bout it grammar police, I'll try to place every comma perfectly from now on so that you can understand.

Maybe. I didn't read it all word for word since it got pretty heated, but I thought if I rephrased his statement it might help calm people down a bit. I doubt it will work but I tried. I probably should have just left well enough alone as it looks like I brought what was a dying thread back to some semblance of life.

Haha, oh well. I mean I for one never said UK was a for sure thing, but they are definitely the hands down favorite. I just want him to show me a team that he thinks is the hands down favorite because he has stated multiple times that UK will not win with Cal as the coach.

I'll take Syracuse vs UK in a h2h matchup, but I don't think they win the tourney unless they of course meet in the finals. I have no idea who will win it all. I just know it won't be Kentucky.

You obviously don't know the definition of the phrase, "talking out both sides of your mouth".

I'm not going to say with any sort of definitive wording that I "know" Kentucky will win it all because that is stupid for two reasons. One, no one knows anything as it relates to the NCAA tourney. If someone did, they would be a wealthy individual. Two, you only set yourself up to be ridiculed beyond mercy to make such a bold statement.

There is a big difference in you saying UK won't win it and someone else saying they will. You have 67 chances of a possible 68 to be correct, while someone saying UK will win it all has a 1 in 68 chance of being correct.

Do I think they have the best team on paper? Yes. Do I think they should win it all? Yes. Am I willing to outright claim that they will win it all without a doubt? No, and anyone who would is as foolish as you are to claim that they can essentially predict the future by making such an unequivocal claim.

Yea I agree. I tried to clarify what he had said and I didnt want was a heated debate about UK vs Duke to become an argument between you and I about how his sentence should have been structured. I probably could have said it better than "now your arguing english comp".
