Martin Thus Far..

Well then you don't know s*** about basketball...

I'm not saying who u think is better.....I'm basing it strictly off what they accomplished during their first six years.....noone knows what pearl would have been able to accomplish if he hadn't been an idiot and got himself fired.

There were 94 phone calls made over several months....the in home visit was by all committed players and a silly rule....both were secondary violations.......every coach in America has cheated that much.

but we're not talking about every coach in America just the one you claim is completely clean and would never cheat.

Law and others have posted statistics in every category (Tournament record and win %, accomplishments in first years at a school, etc...) and his accomplishments don't even stack up then. The guy was a good coach, he wasn't a great coach or an elite coach and to say otherwise is foolish and wishful thinking...

No he didn't.....we had that discussion.....pearl proved he was a good/borderline great coach with the potential to become a great/elite coach.

By running a clean program....I mean no major violations......not getting on probation or scholarship reductions......the coach you are talking about does not exist.

How did he show the potential to become a great or elite coach? 6 years is a long time in a program in modern times and the most he got was an Elite Eight. I'm not bashing the guy or his contributions to this program at all but I think you need to step back and look around at the company you're elevating him to...

E
He did as much in his first six years as several of the ones that are considered elite.

I know if odd and bits were candy and nuts we would all have a merry Christmas but if pearl hadn't screwed up he had just gotten his first one and done player.

Don't try to be rational with Jacqui. I can't really blame her for loving her dad so much. I probably hold my family in a higher regard than they really are too.

I was curious and had some time so I went ahead and reviewed the last 6 NCAAs tournaments. I wanted to see how Tennessee stacked up not taking into account other coaches and schools prior sucess or failure from previous years. I just wanted to compare apples to apples. I looked at winning percentage; games played and appearances. I am a big Pearl fan and what he did at Tennessee was amazing. But if you look at these three things, I would not put Tennessee's record in the top 10 as far as the NCAAs are concerned. I would put them in the 11 to 15 ranges which is still very good, but not necessarily elite. Tennessee was 14 th in winning percentage; 15th in games played and in the top 10 for appearances.

But what Jacqui is trying to say is, IF he hadn't cheated, lied, and been fired, he would have won numerous national titles and final fours.

He didn't cheat he lied about a minor violation. That is what irrational hatred do.....they name call when they don't have facts to back up their side of the argument.

I'm not a Bruce pearl fan, I'm a Tenn fan but the irrational hate for the man is beyond ridiculous.

Again, wrong. He willfully and knowingly had those players to his house when he knew and even told the players it was against the rules. He wouldn't have done that had he not felt it gave a competitive advantage. He then had a willful and intentional coverup of that intentional violation of the rules to gain a recruiting advantage. That's both cheating and lying. So, in other words, the only person ignorant of the facts here is the same person trying see how far up Pearl's ass he can get his head, you.

For not being a Bruce Pearl fan you're getting awfully testy. Jacqui, I know it doesn't seem fair and you probably are harboring a lot of anger towards the NCAA, but a "minor violation" is cheating. Also, most people would group lying and cheating pretty close together.

News flash every person in America has lied........it cost him his job........I don't hold it against him bc he ran a clean program and the ncaa investigation proved as much bc they looked at every thing possible that Bruce pearl did during his time here.

Nope I am not dwelling over pearl.......I support coach Martin 100% and hope he is the man for the job.

Yep, only got found to have committed 9 Major Violations. "Clean" was his middle name. Thanks for the input, Jacqui.

Every coach has secondary violations and pearl lied so he deserved to be fired but he is not the horrible person that you try to portray him as.
