People just need to relax. Check out the progress our players made in the last year.
McRae - SEC POY runner-up, elite scorer, couldn't shoot from outside the paint last year, deadly scorer from anywhere on the court now.
Makanjuola - A great defender after just one year, excited to see how he continues to develop offensively.
Richardson - Consistently scores when he gets in the lane, has a good mid range shot, becoming a better slasher/finisher, hopefully becomes a knock down mid-range shooter, and adds the 3 point shot to his game next year.
Stokes - Is really starting to hit the boards consistently. Next year he's probably a double double every night guy. Still needs to add a consistent 15 footer to his game, but we know he's going to put the work in to be the best he can be, thats exciting because he can be great.
Everyone doubted Cuonzo's pick ups last recruiting class (me included), but Armani Moore looks to have a very high upside. Chievous looked good at times as well. Wish we could've seen Reese more this year, he seems to have a high upside as well, good shot and athleticism for a 6'8 SF.
Just be PATIENT. Cuonzo is building a team that will be prepared to make deep tourney runs year after year. Think of Michigan State. That's how I see us being with Cuonzo in a few years. Were going to have a roster with a great rotation of Freshmen - Seniors, were going to play great defense, and were going to be in every game we play. Cuonzo will continue to pull 1 or 2 4-5 star guys each recruiting class, but for the most part, his recruiting classes will be filled with guys who will play 3-4 years of college ball.
I'm extremely excited about next year. Especially since we get to have Maymon!! Stokes, Maymon, McRae, Hubbs, and Golden. I like that a lot as a starting line up! A little small overall, but as long as Stokes continues to hit the boards hard well be fine. Because no one hits the boards harder than Maymon, and neither of them have much trouble scoring in the post.
I feel like our resume should of had us in the tourney boys, but don't fret, were on the right track. I trust completely in Cuonzo. Go Vols!
