Martins' 61.8% Winning Percentage

grant outcoached us and his players outplayed us, it was embrassing to lose to them, all we had to do was win that game and i think we are in, or if we can beat geo just once during the season

A lot of bubble teams that didn't get in said the same freaking thing. Man if we had only won that one game. You are bammer fan so just admit it.

you just have his record while at bama, 61% that is not his career winning % sorry, just the facts

I looked at the numbers, and I think the OP is just talking about SEC records. However, Martin is around the 60% mark for total record and at UT (59%).

Ive never said he couldnt coach , just said that he needs to win to make up for his....lets just say.....lack of enthusiam.

What a crock. Having spent ample time watching him through a lens, and seeing him post-game in the locker room, the man has enthusiasm. There are plenty of coaches just as, if not more stoic than him. The fact that his demeanor gets brought up in threads like these is laughable. I'd be more concerned about his teams' offensive abilities, sometimes questionable rotations, or early-mid season slumps... but that's just me.

Aren't you the one that used to post great pics from the game? I miss those.

Yep, that was me. Just couldn't find the time after games to post them anymore. I may do a "best of" thread at the close of the post-season if people are interested.

Interesting facts:

1. Pearl got in with a 19-15 record, 8-8 in the SEC.
2. Martin was left out with records of 19-15 , 12-6 in the SEC, and 20-12, 11-7 in the SEC.
3. DeVoe got in with records of 18-11, 19-11, and 20-12.

Sounds to me like the committee has personal motivations that have little to do with the quality of a team's play. I guess that shouldn't be too surprising since they're apparently people.:) Judging from committee comments I've read, it sounds like FL and MO were locks and any other SEC team was going to have win the SECT to get in.

Wonder if there might be an element of punishment for the Pearl fiasco involved in this? We did seem to get off easy in some people's minds.

Next year he will have pretty much his own recruits and Maymon should be back, then it is "Put Up or Shut Up Time." and no excuses.

maybe CM should start choking players and throwing chairs across the floor.....then we can have a real thread to discuss....until then though....everyone sit back and relax and get ready to watch sklar mcbee jack up 3's with that bad teenage mustache....:dance2:

In the big scheme of things basketball really doesnt matter anyway. If hes going to lose I just wish he had just a little bit of a personality for the fans to like. While Dooley was losing at least we got to laugh at him for some of the crap he would say or do, Martin gives us nothing if he isnt winning. If we were talking about the football coach I wouldnt care about anything but winning, but being that its basketball I need someone that makes me want to watch it and I have to admit.... Martin puts me to sleep when he speaks and when I watch his style of play. Due to his lack of personality, he needs to win more than most IMO.
Oh, yeah, Jordan McRae puts me to sleep.:)

It is all about next year now. He has to produce an NCAA birth we need to be in the top four of the SEC and we need to win at least two SEC tourney games and two NCAA games. CCM want be able to go on very much longer with NIT appearances.

Dear god thank you...those talking about lack of enthusiasm either only watched pearl or just don't watch matter and feel like forming an uneducated opinion. The guy shows emotion, just because he doesn't get Td up doesn't mean he isn't showing emotion.
