Who is cheering for Martin too lose? I would never cheer against my Vols. Even the Vandy and Kentucky games before Dooley got canned I wasn't rooting for him to lose. I wasn't saddened by the outcome, but non of us want our Vols to lose, including our coaches.

I seriously just don't get this.

Is it because he doesn't paint himself or sweat through his jacket, or because he doesn't pick up a T?

There are times I've seen that guy more fired up than Pearl was...I just don't get it.

Im dying to comment on this but I told someone in this thread I would do better so I cant.

How you dont get it is beyond me though.

Under previous coaching regime the final RPI rankings were as follows:

10-11 #34
09-10 #10
08-09 #25
07-08 #1
06-07 #12
05-06 #6

These RPI's are indicative of tougher schedules. And no I'm not saying that Bruce Pearl is coming back to UT or that is even a consideration.

That doesn't answer my question.

They've done it in a few episodes. It's just a general interjection to express agreement, and sometimes disgust, from a large crowd. They all start yelling RAAAAAABBBLE RABBLE RABBLE in a comical fashion.

Then it looks like they're putting a literal spin on rabble-rousing for comic effect. My funny bone and I get that.

He was fortunate to inherit Watson, Lofton and Smith. Cuonzo didn't inherit a team as talented

No one talked that way going into pearls first yr.....was it the players or the coaching that makes us remember them so favorably?

Put Chris Lofton on either of Martin's teams and we go dancing easily. Pearl was a great coach, but lets not act like he didn't inherit some talent. But, some wouldn't know we had talent with the way all of our good players get bashed by some.

We got better this year compared to last year. Next year I expect big things from this team, as does everyone here. Lets not jump the gun and write off a good coach just yet. History has already proven you should not do that in this forum.

I wish pearl could have coached the team the year before......much better talent on that team.

Not sure I agree with that. I think Scooter graduating was addition by subtraction. Hard to say how he would have done under Pearl, though. Crump was decent.

I would have loved to see Pearl coach Green's teams. So much talent, just needed a coach with a pulse.

In the big scheme of things basketball really doesnt matter anyway. If hes going to lose I just wish he had just a little bit of a personality for the fans to like. While Dooley was losing at least we got to laugh at him for some of the crap he would say or do, Martin gives us nothing if he isnt winning. If we were talking about the football coach I wouldnt care about anything but winning, but being that its basketball I need someone that makes me want to watch it and I have to admit.... Martin puts me to sleep when he speaks and when I watch his style of play. Due to his lack of personality, he needs to win more than most IMO.

Maybe trying to like 2 sports at once is too much for your pea brain to handle.

You sound like an Alabama fan, and that's no compliment.

Makes him 3rd in the SEC behind Calipari (78%) and Donovan (63.5%)

So you can complain all you want, but the fact is we have a good basketball coach who's is recruting better every year.

The sad thing about next year, is we'll have the talent to win the SEC and there will be a good % of VOL "fans" who will be cheering for Martin to lose.

you better check your stats, grant at alabama has almost a 70%career winning record, do not know for sure about the rest

grant outcoached us and his players outplayed us, it was embrassing to lose to them, all we had to do was win that game and i think we are in, or if we can beat geo just once during the season

I loved scooter....I think he would have been a much better player under a different coach.....yeah it makes me sick knowing how we wasted all the talent during the green era.

It may seem that way- especially on the message boards, but I think Coach Martin has much more support than not. Even here on VN, the negavols are simply more zealous wrt to their negativity and seem hell-bent on their various smear campaigns.

Well looky here, seems like we got a tough guy throwing insults around. Maybe one day my pea brain will grow up and have half the capacity of yours.

Until then, Martin will keep being the most boring HC in the NCAA as far as im concerned. Why some of you get so upset because I point out his boring personality is beyond me. Ive never said he couldnt coach , just said that he needs to win to make up for his....lets just say.....lack of enthusiam.

It's pretty sad that you feel like a basketball coach should entertain you with his personality. I guess you were happy with Dooley. Good riddance.
