Marvel's Black Panther

Funny side note:

I browse the Tennessee 247 site but never post. They are discussing Black Panther over there, and the first post said “two of my favorite MCU movies are Guardians and Deadpool.”

They are almost 30 posts in and no one has corrected him.

Bunch of amateurs. VN would have blown that up by post #3 at the latest.

Heavy handed and kinda boring. Pretty good movie but not in the same ballpark as Ragnarok or Guardians 2. I think the rotten tomatoes audience score is right on.

Corrected him? Before Friday I completely agreed.

Deadpool isn't part of the marvel cinematic universe because Marvel sold the the movie rights of x-men and some other characters to Sony.

I think they actually sold them to Fox and Disney just reaquired them. Same with Deadpool. Spider-Man was the rights that got sold to Sony.

People are using a science fiction superhero movie in an alternate reality to use as fact that their culture would be advanced.

That. Is. Pathetic.

I’m going to see the movie, I enjoy the Marvel franchise. I sure this one is great. Of course, I understand that they’re just movies....... yeah, that’s pathetic lol

(1) What race are you?

(2) Even with as much whitewashing as there has been of history, as recently as 1400 AD, the richest nation on Earth was an African country (Mali Empire) which had at the time the most sophisticated institutions of higher learning in the world at Timbuktu.

(3) And if we go back 4,000 years, the only advanced nations on Earth were African (i.e. Egypt and Nubia). While Europeans were living in caves, black Africans were building the pyramids (in Egypt and Nubia).

So there is nothing outlandish about making the argument that if not for the slave trade and colonialism crippling Africa for the last 500 years, that Africa would once again have the most developed and advanced nations on Earth.

Because white people aren't allowed to do the same without being shamed.

What on Earth are you talking about? White culture is what we live and breathe everyday of our lives here in America. The reason black people are wearing Dashikis to the movie is because our history and culture has been ripped away from us and we've been forced to adopt white European culture.

For example, why do you think suits are considered the choice of clothing when doing business globally? That's not something native to Africa or Asia. That's a European tradition that has become global culture because of the spread of white supremacy.

Bruh. White culture is so pervasive its not even considered white culture. It's so deeply ingrained globally that we just look at it as the default.

Okay? And?

Okay? And?

Umm, if you’re actually accepting his perspective as true then it’s pretty difficult to claim us white folks are shamed for celebrating our “culture”. We’re talking about a movie, I’m pretty sure we’re getting pretty good representation at the local cineplex, I’m not struggling hard to find a movie starring people with my complexion.

Or maybe, just maybe it’s because suits have pockets.

:)
