Its funny how you guys think Maryville will just run away with the title this year, there's two really good teams in Riverdale and Mt. Juliet that they'll have to go threw first

Again, this point is raised every year it seems. Seldom does it matter. The WORST Maryville has done in the last 11 years is an exit in the Semi-Finals. I'm not saying they will absolutely run away with it without resistance, but you shouldn't be surprised when people have them as favorites.

Riverdale was really good a few years ago, too. It was 28-0 Maryville in the first quarter, iirc. I'm noy saying Maryville will blow everybody away, but don't be surprised if Maryville wins another state title this year. They expect to win state every year for a reason.

It was hilarious reading CoachT last year in the days leading up to the Smyrna/MHS game. Smyrna fans swore up and down that they were going to show Maryville how to play with the big boys. Said fans disappeared after the game was played. It's the same story every year.

Maryville is definitely the team to beat. Riverdale is probably the mid-state's best chance. I wouldn't count out Blackman either, Mathers is that good. Would still probably take Maryville against the field.

Maryville slides again in the poll. Now they are #37. They were #36 last week and #35 the week before.

Guess just beating teams by 20 points or more isn't enough.

Maybe its the fact that don't play anyone worth a shiz and play in one of the worst states in terms of talent. It's not their fault - but these top 100 teams would generally take any team in the state, including Maryville, to pound town any day of the week.

Maryville holds steady at #37 after winning 40-0 over Lenoir City

Prattville moves up to #27 from #29 after beating Idle

I don't remember where, but I saw a figure depicting Tennessee as the 11th rank state in terms of BCS level players from the state. Obviously, I don't expect you to believe it with no link, but keep in mind that there MAY be some validity to that.

There's no validity to that. Every single state in the southeast has better talent minus Kentucky if you want to count them in the south east.

BCS Recruits by State, 2004-08 - NCAA Football - SI.com

This was all I could find. SI had us at 15th best at producing BCS players from 2004 to 2008. We were 1 away from Michigan at the 14th spot, and 20 players behind South Carolina. Not too bad when you consider that teams like Byrnes and Gaffney each pump out 5-10 BCS players per class.

I don't know how well Maryville would do against the Top 15 or so, but I bet they could hold their own with most teams after that.

Tennessee isn't near as bad as bass is claiming.

That was the point of the link that I posted. Tennessee High school football is in the top fifteen. Obviously, we're still WELL behind the teams in the top 5, but everybody is.

Maryville is most likely ranked were they should be...in the mid 30's

Never thought I would see such an intelligent rebuttal from you. Welcome to the ignore list troll. Don't bother responding.

homers going to home. Only a complete homer would truly believe Maryville is one of the best 40 teams across the US. There are 25 teams in California alone that are better than Maryville. Sorry you can't handle the truth.

The funniest thing about losers like you is... instead of just ignoring someone - they make it a point to announce the fact that they are putting someone on ignore rather than just doing it (like it's going to hurt someone's feelings) - then half the time they were just putting on an attention whore show and never actually put them on ignore or still read the poster's future posts. Tool.

Maryville is now #29 after getting to the mercy rule before halftime against Bearden.

Whitehaven is still hanging in the top 100 at #98.

I like the fact you get the last word every time. I just put people on the ignore list.

Lol. It is sort of a cheap move, but it just feels right. Also, I only do that to the people that are the most irksome. Most of the people on my ignore list were just placed there without any parting shots. I commend your ability to administor the ignore function in a classier fashion. I will try to do better.

No thanks. But you know it's true. And that's just one state. The top 50 should basically only consist of power houses from Cali, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and a few other outliers. Their record may not show it W/L wise because a lot of the schools with 10x more talent than schools in TN don't get the luxury that Maryville gets of playing cremepuffs week to week to stay unblemished. They play other elite schools. Maryville doesn't.
