Fulmer will not bring Cutcliffe back and he wouldn’t come anyway. Cutcliffe would make us respectable in year one which would just reinforce what many of us suspect. Cutcliffe was the secret behind Fulmer’s apparent success in his glory years. Phil cannot allow thatIf Cutcliffe died, his 4 day old corpse could out coach Pruitt.
Tennessee already has a coach and his name is Jeremy Pruitt. Pruitt gets it.IT would be real nice if Fulmer would call this man and see if he would be interested in taking the UT job after this year..he would be a hell of a hire bar none....still young...Iowa state wins the Big 12 if they beat WV to.
What made them successful together was that Cut wasn’t afraid to play bad cop to Fulmer’s good cop. They meshed well together that way.Fulmer will not bring Cutcliffe back and he wouldn’t come anyway. That logic is ignorant. A good coach finds good assistants and manages the team.Fulmer will not bring Cutcliffe back and he wouldn’t come anyway. If you can only win 8 games a year at Texas, you’re not going to be very successful at a place like Tennessee.Go hire Herman. He and Tejas don't want to be together anymore. Is a great offensive mind, wins 8 games a year. Still young, would probably love to restart his clock. Worst case, he recruits well and wins 8 games a year.

He’s signed multiple quarterbacks from out-of-state during his time at Texas, so I have no idea where you’re getting the idea that he’s only allowed to sign in-state quarterbacks.Texas has serious problems. Did you know they require him to only recruit Texas QB's? Think TN booster meddle that much? They don't even have an indoor facility btw, they still use a bubble like we did in the 90's. He won 10 games and played for a conference title. Went 6-3 this year, so probably would have won 10 games with a normal schedule. He isn't getting blown out by 4 td's in his losses either. He lost by 7 to National Champ LSU last year, 8 to Oklahoma who went to CFP. Coaches can learn and grow, if winning 10 games, playing for conference titles, and fielding elite offenses are his floor to grow from then I like the risk vs reward compared to keeping Pruitt or hiring someone like Napier, etc.

Who said he sucks? But my point stands, if you struggle to compete for championships at a place like Texas, why would you suddenly be able to do so at a place like Tennessee?Even if I am wrong does it mean he still sucks? Almost all of his losses are within 7pts. He wins way more often than he loses, he fields great offenses. We need a coach that can consistently win 8-9 games. In a normal year he wins 9 or 10 this year, so his win totals would be 7,10,8,9/10. Who can we get that is more proven than that? That has managed programs and been successful? I want to be competitive every week, let's start there and then think about a division title, etc. He could get us to the first step.

He’s at a place with as many if not more resources than any other program in the country, yet he’s losing home games to Iowa St and TCU in his fourth year. I don’t think much more needs to be said. In regards to your second question Matt Campbell, Bill O’Brien, Gus Malzahn, and Luke Fickell would all have to tell me no before I even entertained the thought of hiring Herman. And there’s probably another 5-6 guys that I’d offer the job to before him.He played for Big12 conference title in his 2nd season after the prior coach went 6-7, 5-7, and 5-7. He lost by a COMBINED 7 pts to TCU, Iowa State, and Oklahoma this year. The latter 2 played in the conference title game. Sounds like he is right there competing with the best teams in the conference for championships to me.
So you're one of the "go hire Urban Meyer" guys. If not, who is a better option?

The last Texas reject turned out to be pretty damned good for our BB program. I'd take him. Gotta be better than Pruitt. Maybe Barnes can put in a good word?Go hire Herman. How do you know that Tom Herman would win 9-10 games a year at Tennessee? He’s been at Texas for four years and has won at least nine games one time. So a coach who struggles to win 8 games a year in the B12, at arguably the best job in the country, is going to somehow start winning 9-10 games a year in the SEC?Yea, Herman is a grand slam hire and we'd be lucky to have him. Doesnt matter though. Our AD will go with Pruitt or some mid-tier guy like the other 5-6 you claim are better that has never done anything and we'll stay in the same spot of 5-6 wins forever. We'd rather try and find the next Saban than hire a guy we know will win 9-10 games a year and get us to conference title games. Makes sense.

Wow that’s the spirit, let’s hire a guy because he loses “close” to his arch rival and loses “close” games to programs that Texas should be consistently beating. Again you’re the one who made the statement that he would win 9-10 games a year at Tennessee. What evidence do you have to back that up? Why would a guy who has only won at least nine games once at Texas, in a vastly inferior conference, somehow start to win 9-10 games a year at Tennessee. How is he struggling to win those games when he beats good teams regularly and loses by 7pts or less when he is losing? He isn't getting blown out by Oklahoma and good teams, they are beating him by 1-7pts when they do. Personally. I'd rather have a coach I know can put a team on the field that will compete with/beat teams like Oklahoma than somebody that may compete/beat or may get blown out by 35pts like Pruitt.
