There was one more Mary (I think) that Barney kept hanging around so Andy couldn't make his move and at the end they make out in the car while the whole town celebrates his "proposal" to her.

I liked the one where the captain from Gilligan's Island (Name?) came to town to get a girl and he picked Thelma Lou and Barney went crazy!

There were appearances by a lot of future TV stars. The Captain from Gilligan's Island, Roscoe P. Coletrain from Dukes of Hazzard, Sam the Butcher from Brady Bunch, Ben Matlock :D, Goober from Hee Haw :D, Ritchie Cunningham from Happy Days etc.

The show began because of an episode on the Danny Thomas show where Danny got jailed in a small town for speeding. Andy was there, etc. and the response went so well that they decided to try a show based on the small town sheriff and the rest is history.

And what a GREAT piece of TV history, it has been. Didnt D Thomas produce the show? I think BOB ROSS did the set/background painting and again at the end of the show during the credits....Happy Little Tree's.
That dude was a trip to watch..

I actually live in what has been nicknamed the "Mayberry of The Midwest" here in Clay City, Indiana. A few years back the town got the nickname and word of it got out pretty quick. Before long it looked like a circus around here, we had theToday Show here along with crews from CNN and other national media. Now we even have signs and two old Mayberry police cars. You can check out the towns website at www.claycity.net

I did a 2 week sweep of indiana, a few yr's back in operation "golden cargo" I guess the Gov's way to use natl guard units instead of commercial traffic? Anyway i have heard of clay' and i enjoyed Indiana, nice folks, nice area, a little flat but id not have noticed, cept it rained 18 of the 22 days i was activated and arrived, our equipment sank in mud. I was then sent to a county jus out of Indy maybe 30 miles? Had a womens corrections right outside of the gate, and a mens in the center of the post i was sent to? I remember it was used and built by pow's during ww2..

Barney Fife: The last big buy was my mom's and dad's anniversary present.
Andy Taylor: What'd ya get 'em?
Barney Fife: A septic tank.
Andy Taylor: For their anniversary?
Barney Fife: They're awful hard to buy for. Besides, it was something they could use. They were really thrilled. It had two tons of concrete in it. All steel reinforced.
Andy Taylor: You're a fine son, Barn.
Barney Fife: I try.

CHARLENE: Okay, Ernest T...Serenade away.
ERNEST T.: Awright, listen...
(He accompanies himself by slapping a large can.)

"Old Aunt Maria, jump in the fire,
Fire too hot, jump in the pot,
Pot too black, jump in the crack,
Crack too high, jump in the sky,
Sky too blue, jump in canoe,
Canoe too shallow, jump in the tallow,
Tallow too soft, jump in the loft,
Loft too rotten, jump in the cotton,
Cotton so white she stay there all night."

CHARLENE: That's good, Ernest T.
ERNEST T.: Wanna hear 'Eatin' Goober Peas'?

:laugh1:
