Well, we're celebrating the 4th today. My friends and I are going to Cherokee Park to watch their big Fireworks show. I've been before, and it's supposed to be really good. I think Shenadoah and Doug Stone are performing at the Amphitheatre in the park, too.

And besides all that...I couldn't pass up the chance to have a funnel cake. ;)

One of the main characters on the Andy Griffith Show. He was always saying "hey" to everyone, and most people would reply, "Hey to Goober".

He was a mechanic at the local service station on the show.

Oh...That Goober! See, I know who he is, hehe. My mom always has the show on...

What are you going to be up to for the 4th?

Will be spending some time with relatives, taking the boat to the lake, and then watching fireworks after dark...then there is always the possibility of slipping into some eatery for a late night dessert (Maybe even a big heaping helping of Hot Fudge Cake at Shoneys).

Mmm...I love those. My dad used to be the Chef Manager at Shoney's a long time ago. He used to make those for us all the time. I think I'm addicted. :laugh1:

Doesn't take much to get addicted to them. We have a relatively new Shoneys up here that has two superb cooks, so the food is awesome, it's all non'smoking, and the seafood is especially good.

Hey, by the way, are the furniture plants alive and well in Morristown?

There used to be a number of them going strong when I was coming through there fairly often. For awhile, I worked in furniture so I always have an interest in those kinds of plants.

We have a Berkline here that's doing quite well, from what I've heard. But, I think Morristown is like most small towns in the US right now...just trying to get by during this slow economic time. :)

You know, you never told me where you're from.

Radford, Virginia. About 45 minutes west of Roanoke. I teach at Radford University. About 20 minutes from Va Tech.

Morristown is about 2 1/2 hours from here.

Actually, if Barney were driving the squad car, we might be able to get to Morristown in two hours and twenty minutes.

I teach management classes. Right now I teach "Motivation and Leadership" and "Managerial Communications".

Most of what I have learned I have learned from Ernest T. Bass.

I would love to sit in one of your classes then. That would definitely be entertaining, hehe.

I saw that episode last night on TV land! He walks around in the trees, jingles and can make smoke come outta his ears!
