Maymon Story GoVolsExtra!

I didn't say anything that common sense doesn't support - or basic basketball knowledge. What facts do you need? That Maymon wants to be a wing player? That JP nearly died after a surgery? That Oklahoma let Bobby Maze go?

Easy man, I was being sarcastic. I obviously agreed with you.

Maymon played 147 minutes in 9 games for a Marquette team desperate for competent play in the frountcourt alongside Hayward. Take that as you wish.

Exactly. While playing him at the 5 was dumb, why should I believe he is willing to go down low and get dirty in the post when he wouldn't do what was ask of his coach before?

He didn't respect Buzz Williams. Just a guess.

Seriously, guys, seven games....seven. That's all you're basing your judgments on, plus whatever his box score is and Marqette having a 6-6 true freshman play center. If that's where you base your decisive pronouncements on the kid, then good luck with it. I've seen this kid since he was a sophomore in high school, but, hey, whatever. He wasn't getting 10 and 10 by December 15th and decided he didn't like Marquette, so he must be a malcontent, talentless chump, right?

Maymon will be a 4 at UT, he knows this. He'll play inside-out and be a solid player for us the next 3 years.

You mean like Kiffin liked USC over UT after 13 months?

Doesn't mean you can't hustle. I didn't respect my high school coach for three years, doesn't mean it affected how hard I played.

He's fine down low and on the boards, he's just not good guarding natural 5's at 6-6 and giving up 4-6 inches.

Like I said, we're not getting a first team All-SEC player, in all likelihood. We are getting a solid contributor who will do a lot of the dirty work I think a team needs to be successful.

*By the way, I have been saying 7 games when he actually played 9 at Marquette. The difference, though, is irrelevant.

That's all we needed to know.

Yes, because me seeing him play more over the years devalues my obeservations of you reading some articles or watching a youtube video. It's not as if I'm his cousin pushing my buddy, I can pretty much tell you with a lot more certainty and background than you as to how he will do. I do find it funny that you got smug based upon the fact that you admittedly know less about the situation.

So, yes, that should be "all you need to know" as in I know about 100 times more than you what I'm talking about in regards to Maymon.

Don't flatter yourself. I have been guilty of over hyping players I get to see locally quite a few times.

I got you confused with someone else and another argument somewhere else. I'm out of it a little tonight, so I apologize.

No problem. And, just for the record, I believe Dooley will take us to the promise land with a national title in....wait, what were we talking about? Nevermind:)

I'm just looking forward to the awesome practice battles between Maymon and Woolridge. It'll be like Barkley and Malone going at it in Monaco in '92.

I'm not even hyping the kid and I rarely would hype a Wisconsin kid anyway, it's not exactly a hot bed of talent. I'm just saying I've seen the kid play for three years and know what he will be good for here.

I deserve that one. :hi:

Well, it would look like that if Barkley/Malone were going at it with 3:00 minutes left during the scrimmage. :)

We don't need Barkley/Malone. We just need solid contributors who fulfill their role. There are others on the roster needed to be the stars/scorers (Hopson, Harris, Tatum). If Maymon/Woolridge get 12-15 ppg and 10-12 rpg between them, then I'll be satisfied.

You missed the point, which is a shame. It was rather humorous.

Well - the OP described Maymon as a thicker Tyler Smith. The only similarities I see are that they're both black and they both want to play the same position.

:lolabove::lolabove:
Not the OP Einstein, Wayne Chism!!! And I guess you have a better evaluation than Wayne?? STFU Troll bait!

Actually - you are the OP - I'll go back and quote the first post if you want, Einstein.

And yes - if Wayne Chism thinks he'll be or play like a thicker Tyler Smith, then yes. Maybe a similar game - just not half as good would be a better evaluation?
