If he can recruit at the same level that Muschamp was able to recruit at while developing a QB and finding a few playmakers UF will challenge next year in the East because thier defense is good and loaded with talent. UF was a QB away from having a great team this past season!
This is a better hire than most are giving credit
Could be a cautionary tale for some Vol fans. Florida has the facilities, the program, and in the middle of one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country and it is still difficult to attract what many would call a "top tier" coach to come get beat up and beat down in the SEC.
Facilities and expectations.
Did you know that Florida doesn't have a standalone football operations building? In an era where practically every major school has a top-of-the-line indoor facility or is building one, Florida is still at the mercy of having practices altered by weather (which is certainly a concern in the spring and late summer when thunderstorms tend to roll through the area).
Though Florida built office space, an expanded weight room and a recruiting reception area onto a side of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in 2008, Florida's facilities have fallen behind the curve nationally and even regionally, with Florida State pouring millions into facility upgrades the last few years. Even Mississippi State and Ole Miss now have more modern, comprehensive football buildings, not to mention Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson and what's being constructed at South Carolina all schools that try to invade Florida for recruits.
"It's mind-boggling," one person said. "That place should have the best facilities in the country. How was that allowed to happen?"
And it's unclear that athletics director Jeremy Foley is interested in doing anything about it. At the news conference Monday to discuss the coaching change, he practically dismissed the suggestion that Florida's facilities needed to be addressed and cited the fact that the school is working on an expansion of the academic center for athletes.
"We're not into bells and whistles," Foley said. "We're not getting into an arms race, and they're not any issue in my opinion affecting our success."
How much do UF fans speculate the entire deal will cost you? That was my one shocker for you guys. The coach makes total sense but the money didn't.
What I figured. That really is the lone thing that makes this not a home run type hire. At that dollar value you are committed to a good but not completely proven coach for a very long time. A lot of that of course is just the Muschamp half of the equation but at those dollar values one would have thought you guys could shoot the moon and be the talk of CFB. Just my 2 cents.Given the buyouts on both sides, it's easily the most expensive head coaching hire in school history.
I expect UAA's annual donation to the university will be much smaller than in recent years, for the next several years.

You guys can definately afford it I just mainly meant if I was a fan I really don't like the return on the investment. Muschamp was really costly for you guys in a number of ways.Your points are valid.
Good news is Foley has been fiscally responsible for a very long time.
Our recruiting expenses are relatively low considering our talent pool's footprint, and UF doesn't need schedule unnecessary OOC road games 2-3 time zones away.
