Opens the door for kiffin. He'll be all they can afford.
Damn, Jake, thanks for the "inside scoop" on this guy and his sitaution. Looks like Foley has done his homework and the Gators have struck again. Time will tell, but, thanks to your post, I think we've got a good feel for this guy and I think the S.E.C. head coaching talent just got an upgrade. And the name of your bar is.....? I'd love to stop in Ft. Collins and have a few cold ones some time. Many thanks....

Looks like the buyout is a big deal
Yep the same reports are being posted in The Coloradoan which is the local paper here in Fort Collins. I hope this is true because I want to keep Coach Mac here and I really don't want to see him at Florida cuz the dude can flat out coach.
I knew you was a gator lover but geeeeezCould be a cautionary tale for some Vol fans. Florida has the facilities, the program, and in the middle of one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country and it is still difficult to attract what many would call a "top tier" coach to come get beat up and beat down in the SEC.
It's fine, UF fans are turning coal into diamonds as we speak while they watch this mess.I stated in the other coaching search thread that UF is not going to want to drop this kinda money. After paying Muschamp and his assistants out they are looking at 7-8 mil. Then if you hire Mcelwain another 8-9 mil in buyouts. Not even counting first year salary. They are going to be 25-30 mil deep in this transaction. I just don't see them doing that.

They sure seem poised to do something. Not sure what that is. Push comes to shove McElwain could try to sue them for not honoring the verbal agreement. Not sure how it would hold up vs the contract.
That is a lot of money for a guy that has only been a HC for 3 years in a terrible conference. I could see them doing it for a coach with a more proven track record.
Check my posts i've said the same repeatedly. Yet here they are. I bet they do the deal if they can get it to 5 million and maybe a game where they pay another million that they would have paid to some team anyway. Honestly anyone they hire is going to be exorbitant with the Muschamp deal. Not a lot worse than when we were paying 3 coaches though.
