I didn't think much of our teams conditioning the past few years. I hope the new guy does great. I bet he loves his new digs.

Lawson is a certified strength and conditioning coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified speed and explosion specialist by the National Association of Speed and Explosion.

That just sounds cool.

He did great work with our big guys.

Hope the next guy has more focus on speed and quick twitch somehow.

We have looked slow at rb, lb and db for too long now

In 2009, Lawson was recognized as a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach, the highest honor presented in the field, by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa).

Ron McKeefery:

Yeah, he did a great job for us. Unfortunately, he is another casualty in the 3 year mistake we made in hiring Dooley. Wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

You can keep saying ignorant stuff or you can take a step back and accept reality.

UT was in for some tough years. Between Fulmer and Kiffin, UT had 3 consecutive WHOLE CLASS recruiting busts between 2007 and 2009. It did not matter who they hired. They were going to struggle for at least two years before getting a roster ready to compete in the SEC. It took Spurrier 5 years to do it at USCe. EVERY coach that you would have wanted in January 2010 KNEW THAT there was a lot of bleeding to be done by some coach.... none wanted to be that coach.

Dooley rebuilt the roster. This year's roster had more than enough talent to win 8-11 games. He just couldn't get it done on game day.... and made a stupid DC hire.

The critical hire was Kiffin. When he was hired, the job looked good to many prospects. He was the mistake that left UT desperate enough to hire Dooley.

I stopped listening to the youtube video at ALAN "AL" JOHNSON. I know him personally, and he is a joke!! And if that is his "mentor", then I am even more leary of this guy.
Al Johnson, has been fired from every program he has been a part of, and is now doing junior high and hs speed and agility locally. Not sure how you go from WVU, to OSU, to Baltimore( I think), to working for a chiropractor in Parkersburg WV.
Maybe this guy is ok, but his "mentor", is a joke of a trainer!!

sounds like another example of the 'other guy' being better than the 'last guy'

There are many here that harped on Dooley's past record at LT as "proof" that he was.... fill in the blanks.

Jones has won everywhere he's been. Are there question marks? Absolutely. No question. Being able to win games and even beat a few teams with more talent... ain't one of those question marks.

The biggest question mark of all is recruiting. That comes down to who he fires and hires on the football staff.

If he's a smart guy, Tee Martin will be on UT's staff... as will Jay Graham and Marion Hobby.

In fact.... let me be completely honest.... My first choice would be to find assistants with UT roots and preferrably up and coming black coaches. Why? For one, I want true blue believers in UT around me. I also want to be known for giving qualified people a great chance at advancing their careers.... and pragmatically... it will help bring in out of state, elite recruits.

Yeah. Mac's video is much better. We are screwed if we don't keep him!

It looks like Mac was more intense, that's what I look for in a S&C coach. As long as the new guys plan is effective and injuries are minimized, I'm ok with the hire.

I wish we could get Oregon's coach. You know he knows speed. But he's been there a bazillion years now.

I was onboard with CBJ, but if he replaces CRM with the Bearcat's SC coach, that will not be good.

OK, good lob on discrediting the speed and explosion certification. Can you discredit this:
"In 2009, Lawson was recognized as a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach, the highest honor presented in the field, by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa)."

We don't know yet who the new Strength Coach will be, but McKeefery is apparently gone. Who would you go after first?

Yes, out all the folks that downloaded the certification, he was the most "recognized holder" of it for that year!:salute:
