McKeefery has been let go...

Actually McKeefery was hired at the 160th SOAR, (Special Operations Aviation Regiment) at Fort Campbell as a GS-12, Civil Service. He was only there for like two weeks before UT hired him. He probably didn't even get through inprocessing before he left. That nonsense about him "training US Army Special Forces" is a load of crap.

I'll admit I just copied and pasted from UTs site. But either way a) you said we got him from south Florida so you were either being ignorant or frankly leaving it out serve a different purpose and b) the fact that he was going to do what he was going to isnt something to say he is a downgrade from cincy's guy.

Our D line could not explode off the ball, our RBs could not break tackles, our entire defense got consistently outrun by average athletes, our WRs were terrible after the catch (sans CP).....

I'm all for a new S&C coach. Explosiveness needs be implimented into the football program. It hasn't been under McKeefery.

Best part of a coaching change is always a bunch of message board jockeys arguing about strength coaches. Good times, good times.

True. I would much rather prefer to have someone who was selected to train our military special forces, than someone who trained Big East football players.

Just sayin'. :)

People forget that it's not just that you do conditioning, but the right kind.

You can run a mile in 5 minutes, but if you can't play one down after another, it doesn't matter.

This type of offense requires players finish a play, and then get to the line. Then finish a play, then get to the line. Doing that over and over again will get you in shape for gamedays, much better than sprints and bleachers will.

When you've done it over and over again in practice, it makes it easier to do it in a game. Whereas the D is laggin.

Not only that, but because of the conditioning involved in that, you don't have to take time away from snaps to do conditioning. Your conditioning IS getting better at offense and defense.

Great points about repetition of game like situations and using that as a huge part of game conditioning.
We used to not go hard in practice many times because we were afraid we wouldn't make it through running at the end of practice. If you get them going like that, your big men really don't need to be running steps. Their knees will be toast one day. No concrete steps necessary, imo.

U do realize that the SC coach is the one that spends the most time with the players right?? So the right one is just as important as the next DC and next OC.

Or people can just stop posting and coming on here all together. Is that the new direction VN.com is wanting for 2013?? huh MOD??

Agreed. Plus, the enjoyment of getting your conditioning through playing football is MUCH higher than running bleachers.

If you have a 2 hour practice, and you spend 30 minutes of it running, that's 30 minutes of lost time that you could be spending running plays.

I realize there are some cons to the No Huddle offense, but personally, I think the times who do it, like Oregon, are in much better shape, and I don't think it has much to do with the S&C Coach. I think it has to do with they run their plays and they do it fast. And they do it every day.

You do realize that the vast majority of VNers have never seen the inside of a gym much less sit in on a lifting session with a collegiate S&C coach? That's why the posts are so comically ignorant.

Every time we change strength coaches, there's always a 10 page thread arguing about whether the new guy is a big enough badass. Obviously it's an important hire, but let's just say that I'm skeptical of the expertise level of the vast majority of people who argue about it.

Don't worry. When Jones hires somebody, somebody else will post some Youtube footage of the new guy screaming at players over some heavy metal music, and everyone will agree that his level of badassetry is sufficient, and when he in turn gets let go everyone will rend their clothes over that too. Rinse and repeat.

Well there are useless pts in every thread about everything. But the discussion and the knowledge found is why people are on here. No matter how many pages it takes. That's like chick fil a complaining about frying up to many nuggets up every yr during Xmas office party season, because they know that at least 1/4 of them will be thrown away after the party.

This. If McKeeferey was so good why did we wilt in the second half? Why couldn't our RBs break through the first line of tackles? Why did the DL never win the LOS?

There's a difference between being in shape and football shape. They are totally different.

Ha!! Touché my friend :hi:

They r comical and in away help reassure yourself that you aren't that bad.

Honestly I don't think our 2nd half this season as bad as last yr. Our D stepped it up more than people tend to remember IMO. If anything it had more to do with the O not putting the game away when the D stepped it up. Don't get me wrong the d was bad but they fought hard as possible but if they have to keep going out there then seriously how much can we expect??

Wow Jones better get someone good because our OL and several other players have really gained strength and endurance. The defense was strong just slow. Nothing much he could do about that.

I wasn't the one that said that. Check back in the post and then come crawling back and apologize.

Oh, I'm not complaining. I just think it's funny. We've changed strength coaches a lot lately, and every time we have the exact same thread. The WE GONNA KICK ASS CAUSE OUR STRENGTH COACH IS A BADASS argument never gets old.

I've moved the Trooper Taylor stuff into the existing thread about Taylor in the coaching rumors subforum, by the way. Rather than into the trash can where anything about Taylor probably belongs.

That is true.
I just saw where he is bringing his O coordinator. If that is true the best coaching staff in America must already be assembled in Cincinatti. We all badass now!

I'm not wasting my time going back to confirm anything. If you say it was you then is what it is. But even if I did make a mistake I wouldn't apologize to you cause frankly you and ur Internet tough guy wannabe act means nothing to me.

Yeah, that's right I'm a VIRTUAL Badass! The worst kind! Let me go take my Xanax and as soon as I get up from my nap it's ON!!!
