Meltdown in progress

Defense was surely disappointing, but if not for two fumbles on Mizzou's half of the field, we would have kept it closer.

That is part of my frustration. A big part.

The defense was just generally bad with tackling though. That's where you notice good players from bad.

Easy hoss, I mentioned no one by name nor set any body straight. I gave my opinion on the reaction to the program right now. Anyone that got triggered by that maybe is a little sensitive about how they’re acting or just doesn’t care for sunshine pumpers. If you want sympathy to your position on this tell me what your position is and I’ll be your amen section. I ain’t really set in any camp
Not singling out this post/your post. After a loss like that, it is cathartic to let out frustrations. Its like hitting your toe on the door jam, it just feels good to curse the thing out. Some want to come here and call people out as Negavols or other negative comments about the people releasing frustration. Many of those are people that want to act like coach is some infallible deity and cannot be talked about negatively and it is blasphemy to do so. So yea, people like that annoy me. The same types were here defending Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt and attacking the fandom of anyone who was doubtful of them. I remember 20+ point losses to teams where UT never looked in the game and the acceptance of some that it was OK because the other team was just better.

As for my position, I am hopeful that Heupel is the right coach to get UT back to topping the SEC. That said, there have been a number of red flags, not just this year, that cannot be ignored. Next year will tell the tale for me. I am hopeful he can at least be an 8/9 win a year coach, which can at least bring stability for a bit.

I agree on that. 8-4 isn't great, but it's better than having to beat Vandy to make a bowl.

I just hope it's not Music City, but I'd take it over not going at all
The big freak out is we very well could be a 8-2/9-1 team right now. But no one would be surprised if we end up 8-4/9-3 to end regular season.

Give Heupel time to make the right adjustments.

If he can’t do it, he loses his job.

DW goes through another coaching search and hires his replacement.

VN hopes he’s the answer.

Rinse & repeat.
So what timeframe? Rest of season…?

I’m not sure if you’re playing along or insulting me…so yes.

I legit am seeing a lot of the long time names posting tonight that I totally forgot about as I am not as active on here. Saw you commented and thought, I hope you’re doing well and all is good your way.

DramaFreakJosh is the same ole poster. Haha

It was just a bad day at the office for everyone. No one is getting fired.
That’s right but these types of losses are inexcusable and leave a mark. Unprepared unmotivated and unable to adjust. Make no mistake about it, the heat turns up after a performance like this.

Very fair. It’s still extremely possible to end the season 9-4, which wouldn’t be the end of the world record wise. The performances against Florida and Missouri, however, aren’t what anyone hoped to see in year three.
Exactly. 8-4 isn’t a trash season. It’s about what I predicted and not terribly torn up about that. But there is a difference between losing a competitive game and being completely taken to the woodshed against UF and Miz which are, in reality, in our realm of talent.

Heupel as coached 36 games here. I can count 4 total that have been mind numbing losses:

Pittsburgh Year 1
South Carolina Year 2
Florida Year 3
Mizzou Year 3

He has a chance to be 27-12 or 28-11 after 3 years with wins against Bama, Florida, and I pray next week vs Georgia.

Dare I say it’s nice to have these feelings of expectations back in the program? Even after an awful loss?
