Meltdown in progress

Exactly. 8-4 isn’t a trash season. It’s about what I predicted and not terribly torn up about that. But there is a difference between losing a competitive game and being completely taken to the woodshed against UF and Miz which are, in reality, in our realm of talent.
Neither team is more talented and that’s an issue.

I legit am seeing a lot of the long time names posting tonight that I totally forgot about as I am not as active on here. Saw you commented and thought, I hope you’re doing well and all is good your way.

DramaFreakJosh is the same ole poster. Haha

Ahh yes, the same old poster who loves to throw insults at people who wouldn’t dare say it in person.

I'm surprised how this game is that much of a shock to fans on here. We've seen the defense give away games for a while now. When I watched Mizzou play Georgia last week, I knew this would be a tough game for us because every one with a decent QB lights up our secondary. All the teams that beat us make adjustments during the game and at least by halftime. We never do make adjustments. What the hell do at practice all week ?

Heupel as coached 36 games here. I can count 4 total that have been mind numbing losses:

Pittsburgh Year 1
South Carolina Year 2
Florida Year 3
Mizzou Year 3

He has a chance to be 27-12 or 28-11 after 3 years with wins against Bama, Florida, and I pray next week vs Georgia.

Dare I say it’s nice to have these feelings of expectations back in the program? Even after an awful loss?
Alabama was ripe for the taking at the half and the Vols looked unprepared and unmotivated after the half. That deserves to be on the list.

It’s because of the ugly wins we have had this year with the bend don’t break mentality. It finally caught us in game plan and injuries…

I agree but that would have been considered a sizeable upset. Not necessarily game we were considered to be expected to win

I came straight here for the drama queens and y’all ain’t disappointing! So far I’ve seen a call for almost every coach to be replaced and most every player position blamed for the loss. Bright spot- punt team was awesome!
We’re three years away from a total program melt down and mass exodus. CJH has gotten expectations raised this high, this fast. I ain’t ready to give up on none of it yet.

Lol, it's "high expectations" to expect to score more than 7 points against Missouri, with a 6th year senior QB who has been in Heupel's system for 3 seasons?

What would you consider "realistic expectations"?

Never losing a game is high expectations.
8-4, 9-3 at this point realistic

Plenty of criticism to go around after Fla and this game. Scrapping the whole thing and starting over isn’t realistic though. That’s just my opinion though, it isn’t fact.

Are you honestly gonna say you’re not being dramatic? Even Stevie Wonder could see that…..

Then put me in that drama queen group because there’s a lot of them right now after this embarrassing performance tonight.

You can’t defend this.

Heupel can be criticized for today’s performance without calling for his head. You are ready to hire or fire him on a game by game basis. You are very dramatic.

Not sure it is surprise at losing, but how bad. A halfway decent offense at least keeps things closer.

Kind of a recurring them with Tennessee when big time outcomes are on the line. Team with Dobbs has to win to go to a NY6 game and we lose to Vandy. Playoff team last year and lose to USC. SEC East "potentially" on the line in this game and get blown out by Mizzou.
I’ll give you the first 2, but if you thought we had a shot at Atlanta this year, that’s on you.

That’s the head scratcher, isn’t it?
How do we have that big of a drop off from last season? Was Hooker, etc that special? Will we look back in a few years and realize?
We are a top 30 offense, right? That’s pretty damn good, just not 2022 good.
I think we all lost sight of the fact that we lost a few big time seniors, that made last season whatvit was and just assumed this season would be a continuation.
I’m drunk and I’m pissed but I e backed away fro. The ledge a little and am convinced that we’ll be ok.
I honestly feel like the program is the most stable it’s been in 10 years and we have to continue building and working towards being a contender.

Reality is, we're still really thin, and are a year or 2 away from having the depth to deal with the type of injuries we had this year. It sucks, but we have 2 5-stars on roster, neither played tonight, and just so many injuries. Defense was solid until Hadden got injured. I'm not sure how much Pili and Hadden injuries actually affected us, but it just feels like there is just no quality depth at certain positions still.

Was Hooker that special? Go rewatch last year's games and watch him on the sidelines keeping everyone fired up. He was a leader. Team is missing that.
Also missing Golesh. A lot.

Yes, I agree with you. He is another Josh Dobbs and a lot of Vol fans are now realizing exactly what we had in Hooker.

You gonna change the debate every time I answer your questions until you feel like you’ve made a point? My point is it isn’t time to scrap it all and start over. What’s yours?

Man I really thought this team was improved and we would win this game but the TN team that got beat in the swamp showed up at Missouri. Our Georgia game is gonna be ugly!
I fully expect us to give Georgia all they can handle, and that’s the frustrating part.

As a football team you control what you can. They had to win the keep their division hopes alive. Whether I thought we would or not, these players better be believing they do.

There was never an expectation that we'd win every game this season, your original argument is a straw man to begin with.

People are upset about watching a team regressing in real time.
