Meltdown in progress

As a football team you control what you can. They had to win the keep their division hopes alive. Whether I thought we would or not, these players better be believing they do.
You’re right and I apologize for coming off as an @$$.
I’m usually not one to knock other people’s opinions or views.

Its just getting old atp watching this team suck anytime they face a team on the road with a pulse. Its been happening for 3 years now and costed us a playoff spot. Changes need to be made.

And what do you suggest, exactly? Firing everyone? Firing only a few people? What are these changes that need to be made in a program 2 1/2 years removed from the gutter?

There were red flags in Butch's 2 9-win seasons. This is definitely a red flag game. Also, look at the players lost after this season. Next year could easily be a big step back.
People who were realistic knew this year was a step back so now you know next year is a possible step back year so don’t come on here b@tching when we go 8-4.

There was never an expectation that we'd win every game this season, your original argument is a straw man to begin with.

People are upset about watching a team regressing in real time.
Guess your command of the English language is better than mine cause I coulda sworn I was making light of folks overreacting and wanting to fire Banks, Martinez, Heupel, etc. in my original post.
Reckon I need to go back and see if I can find this straw man you speak of. Let’s think back. You led our conversation to scores and records and like I predicted kept moving the goal post til now you think you’ve made a point. Keep sparing and don’t give up. I’m here for ya brother. GBO!

What this team lacks is a true alpha dog leader. Someone who takes on the job of holding his teammates accountable and refusing to accept losing. We need an Al Wilson. Somebody on that sideline should have been chewing some people’s behinds off.

I came straight here for the drama queens and y’all ain’t disappointing! So far I’ve seen a call for almost every coach to be replaced and most every player position blamed for the loss. Bright spot- punt team was awesome!
We’re three years away from a total program melt down and mass exodus. CJH has gotten expectations raised this high, this fast. I ain’t ready to give up on none of it yet.
I agree man. People’s opinions are way too volatile on here. We are not an intelligent fan base.

There are a lot of seniors on the roster who are too well conditioned to losing. They had 1 good year and 1 big win. They dont expect to win because they’d gotten too used to losing. I think we’ve got some leaders among underclassmen. You can see it in their eyes. But the seniors are too much for them to overcome right now.

We’ve beaten:

Virginia
Austin Peay
University of San Antonio
South Carolina
Texas A&M
Kentucky
U Conn

Maybe, just maybe, we’re not as good as we thought, certainly not as good as this fan board often represented. Missouri embarrassed us tonight. Georgia will beat us next week, in spite of all my hopes and dreams. I bleed orange, but reality is what it is. Maybe 8-4 is reasonable. Maybe not, it’s what I predicted. But tonight was bad. Very bad. We didn’t just lose. We got manhandled in every aspect.
How in the world did this team beat Texas A&M?

It’s a world of success now. Nil, transfer portal, etc. Also Kirby and Nick don’t help. Go vols

Heupel lost me quite a bit tonight.

I wouldn’t have been nearly as upset if it was a close loss…

29 points though? Definitely something wrong.
Every team has a bad game and gets blown
out. Look at the NFL. Tennessee will bounce.
back.

I can't help but notice that the elite programs reach 11 wins and by some miracle, manage to get 11 wins consistently.
With coaches who have had 5-6 recruiting cycles. If Heaup has this let down in year 5-6 I would be concerned but at this point he hasn’t even had a chance to build a roster.

Did either of those have an 11 win season and lose the talent that this team has?? Stop spinning the facts!!
Do you understand how silly you sound pretending there’s some vast gulf between nine and eleven wins? There’s not. Also, Pruitt had A LOT less talent than this team has. Pruitt didn’t leave a five-star QB on the bench for a whole season.

Oh I agree with you, but I feel strongly that in 2 years we are having this same conversation.

You can defend Pruitt all you want but he is the reason we are where we are today. Did you forget the mass exit of talent when he left?? Have you forgotten he was the coach who told Penix to go else where?? Where would we be today with Penif in Heup’s offense??
