Memphis......I got two words for yah

i don't keep up with recruiting in Nashville,is there a point in it ? :)

It has more to do with Memphis keeping people out of Memphis. Why let UT come in and sell their program in Memphis when the return Memphis gets is selling their program in Knoxville.

A lot more D1 prospects in Memphis every year than Knoxville, I do understand it. Although I don't think Memphis would agree to play the game anywhere, even Alaska.

Once again BTO is exactly right. But at the end of the day Memphis is still a Community College in Inner City Memphis that is a glorified High School thus the name Tiger High. It doesn't matter where they go or what they do or who they try to keep out thats what they are!!!!

This is the typical, uneducated response, and it's not correct.

It's about playing in Knoxville, not Memphis.

you would think they would like to have teams come in and play

Its not just Tennessee that Memphis has issues with. They won't play Vanderbilt, they won't play Ole Miss or Miss. St. in basketball, they won't play Arkansas and I am truly surprised they played Louisville the last 2 years. And they never play any ACC schools unless it is in a Preseason Tourney and they seem to shy away from a Pac 12 matchup or Big 12 matchup unless it is in a Preseason tourney or the NCAA Tourney where they have no choice. That is one reason my statements hold true about them. They are what they are!!

Is that not what I'm saying? Thought it was.

I don't think Memphis would agree to play us anywhere though anymore.

Absoluetely, but UT turned down the idea of the Nashville game.

We can't keep people from coming into Memphis to recruit. It's about demanding games where Memphis can go out and recruit in exchange for the a game in Memphis. That doesn't happen when you play in Knoxville.

no idea BTO,i just noticed the reports were missing, hopefully he is having too much holidays good cheer :)

Why play an out of conference with Vandy? UT > Vandy, IMO. There is no history there and Vandy is a smallish program with no fanbase.

Ole Miss, State and Arkansas bring up the same OOC issues as UT.

Of course we played Louisville, because we get to go play a game in Louisville.

Don't humor me with that crap. So go to Philadelphia and play Temple then so you can recruit the Philadelphia area and get some kid to come to inner city Memphis!!!! You gotta be kidding me!!

I didn't realize Memphis recruited the Louisville area and got alot of recruits frome there. Enlighten us some more with your crap!!

I like the game too, but we're just two regular fans man. Recruiting is money, and money talks.

sadly that is true, both sides are letting a good yearly game get away from them and 1 game a year shouldn't be that big of a problem and i like yours and other fans from different schools point of view too, glad you post here :hi:

Yep, I don't blame him at all.

Jax- guess you missed my commentary on that. Because Memphis wants to end basketball, if I were UT I would end football or at least use it to continue basketball. Both sports have been played since I was real young and I am over 30.

Never heard about UT during down a Nashville game, this come out officially anywhere, that surprises me.

And yea that's what I was saying, guess I just worded it poorly. I don't blame UM for not wanting home/home with Tennessee or any other schools like an Arky, Ole Miss etc.

Dies Louisville or surrounding area really produce much talent?

Who has Memphis pulled of note from KY?

Serious question, because I don't know.

Well Cal wanted it in Nashville. But I don't blame UT. Home games are what make the series.

BTO I understand that but who the hell are you going to play? You have to play teams in your region for excitement and competitiveness. You don't just not play anybody because you can't get a return game for recruiting gain. Memphis isn't getting a recruiting gain no matter where they play. As a result Memphis has to play Rice, East Carolina, Southern Miss, Tulane, and Central Florida. Thats no good. But thats what they want so let them have it. Thats why in the middle of basketball season in California you can't even find the scores of their games much less a write up on it. But thats what they want and thats what they shall have all for the glory of not gaining some sort of recruiting edge by playing in Oxford. I don't buy it. Ridiculous.
