Memphis scared of TN

Maybe we'll just talk about this in December, if you're still trolling around this place. Sadly, posters like you are short lived.

Alas poor Drivebye, we knew him... well?

R.I.P. January 2011 - November 2011.

So,now your making it about me? Answer the questions chicken sh!t? Why do you Memphis Sisses keep losing to a FB school (TN)? With all that great name recognition in BB. Why did Memphis change their name from Memphis ST?Why can't you get in a BCS conference? You have no exposure is that why you're on a TN message board. You Memphis sissies are scared! Your big bro. (TN) keeps kicking your a$$ in your only sport. PS I ain't going nowhere you Bluff City P*ssies are too easy!:post-4-1090547912:

What does changing the name of the school have to do with anything? I guess I could ask you why UT changed the name from Blount College to East Tennessee College to East Tennessee University to the University of Tennessee. Newsflash! Most universities have changed their names through the years. But I'm sure you already knew that.

There was only 200 yrs between the two name changes. TN. wasn't even a state in 1794. No BB or FB teams. Your a Moron. You changed your name because your reputation was terrible and still is. You should change it again to Chicken Sh!t U.:shaking2:

You're* a moron... 5-11 in SEC play is unrealistically pessimistic. I say we are around a .500 team in SEC play. Bama is still the only "good" team in the West. We should sweep SC. UGA is in no better shape than we are. UF has a nice team returning as does UK and Vandy. 4th in the East is where I think we end up, but if we snuck up on UF we could finish 3rd as a best case scenario and winning 4 of 6 games against the West is probable.

9-7 in SEC play and hopefully we can find 10-12 OOC wins and get a 8-11 seed for the tourney. I think that is an optimistic, yet realistic expectation.

Our style, sets, inbounds, defense, and players are going to be something fresh and something other coaches are going to have very little to game plan against us as well. With the right chemistry, we could do better than most think IMO.

I have as much chance as winning the 2012 presidency as Tennessee does of making the NCAA Tournament next year.

1. Yes, now I'm making this about you.

2. Ok.

3. I don't know why we keep losing. Maybe Bruce Pearl was a great coach who got his team up to play Memphis well. Maybe if we had our "great name recognition" suit up and play for us, we could've gotten more W's. Maybe whatever higher power that is out there has decided that it's my lot in life as a Memphis fan to field questions like these from mouthbreathers like you, so said higher power likes to see UT win these games. Your guess is as good as mine (well, it's probably not, but you get the picture).

4. Maybe we changed our name because it made no sense. Memphis isn't a state, it's a city. I expect Cleveland State to get the memo any day now. Again, why has UT changed it's name before?

5. We can't get into a BCS conference because RC Johnson keeps filling out the application wrong.

6. Although the last question lacked the appropriate question mark, I'm on a UT messageboard because I was invited here. Why are you here? Please don't tell me that you're an actual UT grad. I'll have to have a serious talk with my buddies at the admissions dept. if that's the case. Having folks like you running around with diplomas seriously devalues the feat for the other normal folks. The far more likely story is that you bought a shirt, hat and car decal from Wal-Mart back in the day, and have only discovered the sport of basketball in the past 6 years. Am I warm?

I doubt he's that far off, take my opinion for what it's worth. UT will be better than SC next season but not by a wide margin, they could easily take one against you @ SC. I think the rest of the East is 6 losses.

In the west, you're still better than Auburn, although Barbee brought in some decent recruits and doesn't lose much. LSU is a better team, although slightly. Arkansas will be a much, much better team than last season and will challenge Bama for the west. MSU loses Ravern Johnson, and I can't remember if Sydney is coming back, but they bring a deep recruiting class. If Sydney is back, MSU is much better than UT. Ole Miss is Ole Miss, they'll lose Warren but bring in McD's AA Jelan Kendrick.

All in all, UT may be the 3rd worst team in the SEC next year. 5-11 isn't a bad prediction.

No way UT will be the third worst team in the SEC next season. Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Georgia, and Arkansas will all be worse than UT.

Weren't they 8-8 in conference last year? You are predicting this team to improve with a brand new coaching staff and losing Tobias and Hopson?

Makes sense to me.

How will Georgia and Arkansas be worse than UT? I can conceive of Ole Miss and LSU maybe, Auburn and SC probably. Still, Ole Miss was an NIT team that lost one contributor (EDIT: Graham is gone too, but that means they return 3 starters) and brings in a game ready All American. LSU was just...bad last season, but they return everyone.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

Don't forget that we could start 5 4* players. Georgia lost their only two good players from last year. Arkansas has some good recruits coming in, but have no proven talent and they will be going to a completely new system with Anderson. Many of our players didn't shine last year as we played a half-court offense and didn't run any half-court offense. With an improved offense, they will get better shots and will be better players. Expect to see some players really step up when given the opportunity. Remember, Pearl said that Hall was the best offensive post he had ever seen. Too bad he didn't get more opportunity to show that last year.

I consider myself an optimist concerning UT bball, but I think you've trumped me on this one. HOWEVER, I follow your logic. I certainly hope it will play out the way you described.

I think you may be fooling yourself on this one. UGA arguably lost their 2 best players, but so did UT (and UGA was arguably the better team last year, despite the Brian Williams over the back no-call). UGA doesn't lose their coach and brings in a better recruiting class.

Arkansas will hit the ground running under Anderson (literally). They'll be young but deep and talented. Arkansas could be really good next season or mediocre, but Anderson gets his teams to play usually. My guess is they'll be better than UT by good measure.

I agree that Georgia was better coached last year and much better in the half-court offense. However, I would take our returning players over their returning players. Can't argue that their recruiting class is better than ours. I would also take our returning players over Arkansas' returning players. Again, their recruiting class is better. I may be fooling myself, but I'll stick with we are better until proven wrong.

Maybe UT's returning players showed you something that I didn't see last year. Hell, I think Tatum was the only one I remember seeing play. Maymon was relegated to the bench after a few games and Hall never really left the bench. Woolridge was injured, Golden played well in very limited minutes. McRae didn't see the floor. McBee couldn't throw it in the ocean on offense and may as well have been wearing concrete shoes on defense.

Golden saw significant playing time. Hall got more minutes as the season progressed. Maymon did see very limited playing time, but did show some ability when given the opportunity. McRae saw no playing time, but has shown great athletic ability and can be a major contributor for UT. Tatum did not have a good season, but has the potential to play much better. I agree about McBee--not much to look forward to with him.

Tatum will be, by far, the best player on the team next season. He needs to learn to be the No. 1 scorer on his team though, which may be hard for him since he couldn't reliably be the no. 3 scorer last season.

If he doesn't step up, Richardson, Golden or McRae will see lots of minutes. No reason to give a Senior a majority of the minutes when you can give them to a So/Fr. and the play level doesn't fall off.

I agree completely. If Tatum doesn't step up early in the season, a young player needs to take his place.

I agree. My gut tells me that Tatum should lead in scoring, followed by Hall or Golden. That is unless McRae has settled in and worked on his composure.

I don't know if this has been addressed before, but I'm not a fan of McRae's jump-shot. I know he had a good reputation with it in HS, but I think he needs more arch. I don't know if this will be a problem because of his size...Scotty seemed capable of manipulating his shot, so maybe McRae can too. He seems determined to be a good perimeter player in addition to everything else he's especially good at.

You are a idiot. Your a Memphis fan an someone invited to join a TN site. LOL You trolls. I actually grew up listening to John Ward. Ernie Grunfeld, Bernard King Mike Jackson, Reggie Johnson and Johnny Darden was the first team I followed. I remember when a bad TN team coached by Wade Houston went to Memphis and beat you about 20 years ago. So, you want to talk about educated. I will put a UT degree up against a UM degree any day. Your own grads say the only job they can get is the same as a high school graduate. Keep spinning you will lose that to TN too! Johnson can't fill out a application. That makes my point. Memphis changed their name because you SUCK!:the_finger:
