Memphis scared of TN

Like I said, the only thing Memphis has is that it is located in Memphis. Yes, there are good players in Memphis. TN will recruit Memphis. Like they have in the past. If Memphis is so superior to TN, why does Pastner not want to play them. Is he scared of losing Memphis players to a bottom feeder. Georgetown and other Big East teams only play BB. But the Big East don't want a great BB program like Memphis. The Big East must be stupid or maybe Memphis is overrated. I'm done with this trend. We will have to agree to disagree. GO VOLS my friend!

That's because Georgetown doesn't try to force an FBS football team into the Big East, too. It's not hard to understand.

What are you nuts. Uconn just started there FB program a few years ago. They didn't have a problem with them. Quit making excuses for Tiger High. You sound like a troll. OUT!

Historically, Memphis is better. Currently, I'm not at all sure that I would consider Memphis a better job.

The amount of recent productivity from both teams puts them on a similar level. Memphis has done more in the Tournament lately. Memphis is an easier job for any coach because of the weaker conference and recruiting goldmine. Plus, given the right coach, Memphis will open the wallet.

I would consider it a much easier job that provides just as much support and notoriety as the UT job.

You have to get in a BCS conference to get more notoriety. ESPN ain't coming through that door. TN top 5 in attendance last few years. KU and TN top rated TV game in 2010 regular season.

I agree with this. I think they're definitely comparable; I'm just not sure I would consider Memphis a superior job.

Memphis gets plenty of TV time in Memphis. That's all it takes. Tennessee is Top 5 in attendance because we have one of the largest venues. If Duke, Carolina, and others sat 32k they'd demolish us. Percentage of seats with butts in them is a way more telling statistic.

A good coach will have an easier and higher paying job if he goes to Memphis. Is that even remotely debatable?

I think it depends on who the coach is on what Tennessee is willing to pay. Tennessee paid Pearl a salary he didn't deserve, which is more than what Memphis is currently paying Pastner. But, there is no doubt, Memphis is an easier job.

I meant if Pastner left today, Memphis would be more likely to go after a higher-profile coach with the intention of paying him more money than Tennessee would offer

I have said right now. NOT tradition a number of times. Tommy Bowl seats 21k not 32k. NC is simular. TV time in Memphis, that's a sad quote. Where's Tiger High in Attendence? Remember your in the Fed Ex Forum.

If you're talking "right now", then Memphis had an equivalent season with a less humiliating ending.

We're talking basketball, not football. And if you really want to talk facilities, I'll take the Forum over TBA every single day of the year. I honestly don't know why you keep talking about facilities. It's the difference between a good collegiate arena and a good NBA arena.

You honestly think ESPN signed that deal for basketball purposes?
