Memphis scared of TN

We're talking basketball, not football. And if you really want to talk facilities, I'll take the Forum over TBA every single day of the year. I honestly don't know why you keep talking about facilities. It's the difference between a good collegiate arena and a good NBA arena.

This might be hard for you to understand. Facilities are a lot more than the Arena. Ask anybody in the media (you don't believe me)that covers CBB. TN BB FACILITIES are as good as there is in COLLEGE BB, and you have mentioned FB several times.:good!:

I mention football because it's the reason Memphis is in C-USA. Judging a basketball program by saying the football program sucks is pointless.

If you think Memphis has bad basketball facilities, I'm sorry that you're that uniformed and dense.

You honestly think ESPN signed that deal for basketball purposes?

ESPN has SEC Collage baseball and softball on. Tennessee was a big part of the SEC/ESPN deal. Now this was before the NCAA investigation. Again this is from Brent Hubbs. I trust him you might not.

If by "Tennessee was a big part of the SEC/ESPN deal," you mean Tennessee is in the conference that ESPN has decided to enter a contract with, then yes.

I have only talked about TN's facilities. I haven't even mention Tiger High's facilites. I would love to get you in a courtroom.

If you're standing in the courtroom using the piss poor grammar you've displayed here, the jury would have a hard time not laughing at you.

Tennessee was a big part of the negotiations. Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida. Brent Hubbs quote

Memphis gets plenty of TV time in Memphis. That's all it takes. Tennessee is Top 5 in attendance because we have one of the largest venues. If Duke, Carolina, and others sat 32k they'd demolish us. Percentage of seats with butts in them is a way more telling statistic.

% of filled seats would be just as skewed. When you only hold 12-15k, its much easier to have a higher % of seats filled. If we had one game a year at Stokely I bet it would sell out...

The only time the jury or judge has laughed was the one time when I had a choking case. In jest I mention Memphis vs KU game. LOL

You're really helping yourself make Memphis look bad considering that was for the National Title and we've never been past the Elite Eight.

Like I said, the only thing Memphis has is that it is located in Memphis. Yes, there are good players in Memphis. TN will recruit Memphis. Like they have in the past. If Memphis is so superior to TN, why does Pastner not want to play them. Is he scared of losing Memphis players to a bottom feeder. Georgetown and other Big East teams only play BB. But the Big East don't want a great BB program like Memphis. The Big East must be stupid or maybe Memphis is overrated. I'm done with this trend. We will have to agree to disagree. GO VOLS my friend!

NBA arena, Finch Center, FedEx money, recruiting hotbed, traditional/recent tournament success, etc.

Places to go every day of the week. A lot of recruits enjoy checking out a Grizzlies game then hitting Beale Street.

I don't understand what the hullabaloo is re: Pastner's statement. Memphis doesn't really stand to gain a lot, recruiting-wise, by playing a game every other year in Knoxville.

I'd like us to play UT every year if for no other reason than evening up the series and getting them during a rebuilding period, just like they got us these past 2 seasons.

But I can see why Josh would want to make his life easier and not give the UT staff a chance to come into Memphis and showcase. I don't see why the series couldn't move to Nashville.

That would be sweet, Bill.

I have no issue with Pastner's statement and don't think he's "scared" by any means. He just gains nothing from the current arrangement.

Memphis Canes, put the shoe on the other foot. Why would UT do anything to move the series to Nashville, and no longer get a chance to showcase in Memphis? UT already gets to play in Nashville 2 times a year. Plus, UT has the trump card of the football series.

So it is obvious why the series is not going to be moved to Nashville.

True.

Which is why Pastner wants it discontinued altogether. If UT pulls the football game, so be it. I'd replace that with a buy game, since we're usually getting dominated anyway.

Calipari didn't want the series, either. It has nothing to do with Pastner and everything to do with sheltering the local kids.

I had the same memory of the situation. That himself didn't want to play UT either.

Memphis is slipping fast. They might wish to keep UT on the schedule for the next few years at least until Coach Martin gets his house in order and starts beating them.
