Memphis scared of TN

I had the same memory of the situation. That himself didn't want to play UT either.

Memphis is slipping fast. They might wish to keep UT on the schedule for the next few years at least until Coach Martin gets his house in order and starts beating them.

:birgits_giggle:

Memphis won't slip too far as long as they can pull in the top talent from Memphis. Pastner doesn't have to be a great floor coach when he has better talent than anyone in their conference.

If they finish 2nd - 5th in CUSA again... Pastner's seat will get hot... very hot. Memphis fans are not used to finishing anything but 1st in a bad conference on a year to year basis. If this trend continues, Pastner is out in 2 years and the coach that walks into that situation will be on gold mine similar to when Urban Meyer took over for Zook. Great talent, awful coaching and game management.

It's going to get to the point where their bench could finish first without a coach.

if thats true im not really sure why RC Johnson would give coach Pazz the raise he did but then again, we are talking about RC. so who knows.

Memphis is a mid-major school. What do you expect.

Tiger High could changed their name again. U of West Tennessee, U of Bluff City, Tiger High U, Mid Major U. Beale ST muggers. Any ideas I'm fresh out. Just trying to help you boys.:salute:

Pure class. I'm impressed. Why go out of your way to denegrate a "mid-major" school, as if that moniker really meant anything anymore? We just had a Final Four that was 1/2 mid-majors. Obviously, the smaller schools can compete just as easily as the BCS boys.

I don't think he's much of a "big picture" person.

If Memphis was invited to join the SEC that would hurt UT, ALA, AR, UM and whoever else that see Memphis as a fertile recruiting ground.

Maybe a little but just joining the SEC doesn't make you a Tennessee, Alabama, LSU kind of program.

Step one, two and three would be getting rid of RC.

Maybe not..but, most kids who leave home to play would'nt have to. Recruiting against SEC schools would get easier...and SEC schools would'nt have that "big conference name" to dangle in-front of Memphis area recruits.

I don't really see a scenario happening where Memphis locks down it's backyard as far as football recruiting goes.

I was looking in the NCAA record books and I didn't see Memphis, Memphis ST. Tiger High anywhere. Oh, now I remember you guys played KU. Couldn't make a free throw, blew big lead late and choked. Not really that got vacated for using a ineligible player. Then Cal left and took all your recruits.

Solid argument there. Care to mention anything else that's completely irrelevant and actually rejects your point.

Just like reminding you trolls. Why don't you change the TN emblem to a tiger high emblem. Just for full disclosure. I have been checking this thread just to see if you guys are still threading. I can't believe you Beale ST Blues are still there. I've been playing. I pull for all Tennessee teams unless they play the Vols. Go Grizzlies and Go Preds

Troll much?

p.s. You have the NCAA "record book"?

I didn't know they made the NCAA record book in coloring book format.

I am just saying that he shouldn't of stated it like he did. How many players do you sign a year in basketball? Not many unless you are sending players to the league. As another poster said it is all about relationships. He already has the inside track on relationships with local AAU and high school coaches to sway the kids to Tiger High. I just thought publicly saying he didn't want to play Arkansas or Tennessee in rebuilding mode would look bad. Maybe I am wrong but the biggest thing that Pearl and Summit(Pat does everything right)did to elevate our programs was to play the best non conference schedule.
