Meyer stepping down

I agree. My friend (who happens to be a Miami fan) was overly excited and laughed at Urban for a second or two... then quickly realized it may not even slow them down, certainly not to a screeching halt.

We'll have to act quickly for recruiting and Urban knows that. He bears no ill will towards UF and has no reason to bolt and leave them in the lurch. Ergo, my guess is that Meyer alerted Foley awhile back and UF either has someone already lined up, or very close.

I'd be surprised if this lasted past Monday.

I get what you mean. And I'd be surprised if it isn't Mullen.

Makes a lot of sense. Seems like we'd barely skip a beat if he came in.

That's what my friend realize. Especially with some of the guys like Burton already in place, and Driskel coming in January.

Ew :( :( :loco:

Unless they make a big splash the Urban mystique is gone. Program will suffer but the PD can now take the holidays off.

All this Tebow talk is useless. The real truth is Urban Cryer couldnt win without Mullen and Charlie Strong. The O wasnt as powerful in 09 and everything went all to hell this year.

If you think that the offensive struggles this year can be chalked up to coaching problems, you're insane.

Are you serious? Coaching problems were the primary reason Florida was so bad this season. The Gators have one of the most talented rosters in NCAA football, right alongside LSU and Alabama. This team, as bad as it is, will still send multiple players to the league.

Who on offense? Besides line.

Well Urban said in the presser that it was execution and injuries. So i guess it couldnt have been coaching. No, it's never the coaching.:good!:

....he is the biggest media wh*ore around. He is slated to play Joe Paterno and Penn State in the Outback Bowl. And instead of everyone talking about JOE PA like they should be, and asking if HE is going to retire, they are going to be talking about Urbie. He just has to have the spotlight AT ALL TIMES! Why not just wait until after the bowl game to announce it.

No class.....at all!

Well, I'm not sure he did it to one up anyone per se, however I agree, he has no class. He has shown his lack of class many times over since he has been with Florida. Suspending a player for a half for eye gouging, pathetic. Running up the score and padding stats with his first string well into the 4th quarter, unsporting. Letting his players get away with pretty much whatever they want without so much as a slap on the wrist (see also: various arrest records of players during his tenure). His handling of the media when he faces any sort of scrutiny (see also: getting in that reporters face when he was just doing his job). Urban Meyer has no class but announcing this decision today shouldn't contribute to that legacy. Now when he signs with Denver or takes some other coaching job, that should be viewed as completely classes based on why he's leaving this job.

So you think that the sole reason that Florida struggled on offense this year was because of Meyer?

Meyer bears ultimate responsibility for not demoting Steve Addazio, so yes.

UF's offense regressed in '09 with Tebow and it was straight up booty this season. The offensive line was garbage this season in spite of returning four senior starters. The common denominator is Addazio.

I should've specified in my OP that I meant Meyer's coaching. Yes, keeping Adazzio as the OC was a horrible move.

Worst post of the day.

I agree, and that might have had to do with distractions with family and such.

I think that his reason for leaving is completely understanding and legitimate.

Normally I would agree, however this is the 2nd time within a year. Me thinks he likes attention and he's lost the desire and recognizes that Florida deserves someone who can give what it takes (unlike a chubby guy who used to dress in orange on Saturdays in Knoxville).

Although the family thing is cool and all I dont buy it. He said the same thing last year and family/health issues are about the only thing you can say and people will empathize. No one is going to say "wow I can't believe he quit coaching for his family". Seriously, his kids are going to college and he wants to watch their games now? They were in school in the same town he lives in and couldnt go watch them. C'mon, that's bullshizzle.
