What's your opinion of the possibility that Dyer is a Vol?

I think CBJ said during his press conference that character is big with the players he recruits, so I don't think Dyer would be a take based off of that criteria.

Have you seen our depth chart at RB? Dyer meets that crireria. Dyer is a take.

Edit: MODS can we change this to the official Michael Dyer Thread.
AS a recruit:

To be honest. I don't even remember what happened with him at AU. What I do remember is a RB who was REALLY hard to take down. If he can keep his head on straight here it could be a win/win situation. We get an elite RB for a year or two, he gets the exposure he needs to show the NFL his attitude (I guess that is what everyone is referring to) has improved and he can be a great NFL RB.

We've had bigger issues in the past with players. At least he didnt rob anybody. Just a little weed issue, and a gun charge that got dropped. He actually got the gun back and the trooper that arrested him got fired. I think he would come in here and keep his nose clean, hes out of chances.

i really hope this becomes a real possibility. the guy may go to a smaller school that has no competition. Lane and Neal arent just going to hand over their carries without a fight.

Does anyone have legit news on Dyer or Crowell possibly coming to UT?
Or is everyone just dreaming?

Ha ha his "attitude" was not exactly the biggest problem. I'll give you the short version: guns, drugs, numerous run ins with the law, and a general disregard for any and all team rules.

Oh. Yeah. Attitude is a slight understatement then. But, if he promises to be nice, we should take him. He's a kick azz running back.

I think we could easily bump a 2* and make room for him and still hold the extras for next year. Lets be honest, he needs a solid come back year to get the attention of the NFL, and our o-line is his best chance to get that. I don't think he would risk a second chance opportunity. Probably one and done, but I'll take it.

Hubbs was on the Sports Animal and he was asked if the staff would take a chance on Dyer and his response was he was leaning on the no side of it. Says that the staff will go with what they have.

I have been strongly opposed to pursuing him and (although I obviously haven't spoken to him since he left Auburn) I tend to think his story about straightening up is complete bull****.

But after missing out on everyone else I say give it a try. He only has to make it through one semester.

Translation...Yes we are going after him. We just are not going to tell anyone. If he signs, it wiil be a great surprise. If he doesn't, no one knew anyway, and there won't be anymore meltdowns in Vol Nation.

I've been taking Coach Speak lessons :)

Yeah, really. One season is all we need from him.

If he passes staff evaluation than take. Would likely be a one and done. That would be a legit 3 RB rotation behind a great SEC Oline.

I kind of like Hubbs. But to be honest I have to agree with you Biker. I think they are going after him. He has a had talks with the coaching staff and is following them on twitter as well as some of the players. Ah WTH give him a shot what is their to lose. If he works out brilliant move if not show him the road.

After all the crap that has been pulled here even in the Fulmer days that got swept under the rug, what Dyer did is no worse than most all of it. Give him a shot. Absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I wasn't saying anything against Hubbs.

I just really wouldn't blame CBJ if he wanted to keep this quiet. He was very open about the majority of the people we were recruiting and while I appreciated it, it did seem to blow up in his face, as far as some fans are concerned, when they didn't sign.

He wasn't open about anyone before they signed.

That's a violation. Just ask Kiffin and Nukeese.

Would be a great fit for everyone...will all just need one yearout of proven back...we have the line to help him tremendously. If cbj is not trying just another nail in his coffin. He must make some kinda splash next season
