Michael Sam, Missouri DE, Is Gay

If he goes undrafted then it is because front offices don't think his play will translate well. Anyone with any sort of intelligence will understand and not think it was because he is gay.

When has the media ever given a damn about what people with intelligence think when crafting a story?

I'm not saying that he is going to go undrafted because he is gay I'm saying that if for some reason he goes in the 6th or 7th round or not drafted at all simply because of his talent the media will still bring it up and ask, "Was it because he is gay?" That is a fact and you can write it down because if this guy goes in the later rounds or not at all the media is going to make a story out of it.

Multimillion? Try multibillion. And it has an image to consider. There's a 0% chance that Sam goes undrafted. And I'd be floored if he slips beyond the 5th round.

What does the NFl's so-called image have to do with 32 GMs making a decision to draft or not draft a particular player?

Do you really think the rules are different for Sam versus every other kid in the draft?

A good combine might bump him up but to me he was an average prospect before and still an average prospect now.

I doubt an NFL franchise cares about a mid round pick. However it could become sensationalized and become a nuisance if anything. I can see it now though, when he is drafted, some reporter questioning why so and so didn't take him earlier. Then you get the inevitable "was he drafted so late because he was gay?" MSNBC conversation where people who don't know anything about sports will think it was because he was gay, etc.

Sure, but this really wouldn't be on Sam; this is media driven. I'll be shocked if Sam does not work to downplay his sexuality from this point. I think he'll try to make the conversation about Michael Sam the football player; it will be the media that blows this up.

Except, based on his skill set and playing style, he's projected as a 3rd to 4th round pick prior to the announcement.

He'd have to perform extremely poorly in combine for that aspect to actually drop him another 96 plus picks (compensatory picks haven't been handed out, so that number is realistically larger).

I heard on 104.5 this morning that he was projected middle rounds however several GM's thought he wouldn't be drafted at all. I did not hear if this was before or after he came out.

He was projected as a 3rd-4th round pick before the announcement.

I'm not saying he is going to go undrafted I was talking hypothetically. I had him around low 3rd, high 4th before.

Normally a SEC Defensive player of they year will NOT go undrafted......period

That's what I was saying. If it blows up its the media not the kid. His sexual orientation doesn't impact his skill set as a player.

Should I ask how you know this?

Sure, basic understanding of psychological and biological terminology, which most people don't have. Pedophilia is specifically for 12ish or younger age range.

In fact, I would wager 90% of men are ebophiles, that's finding girls ages 16-19 attractive. We just decided in America these past 50 years or so that the 16 and 17 numbers are bad or should be illegal. Doesn't change the biology of it or that the rest of the world is (for the most part) understanding of biology.

Extremely late, but this thread blew up fast.

I'm just going to point out that age of consent in this country isn't 18 across the board; it varies on a state by state basis...in fact it's only 18 in about 1/5 of the states in this country. In most states in the country it's 16.

Age of consent 16 (31): Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia

Age of consent 17 (8): Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Wyoming

Age of consent 18 (12): Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin

I think you're missing the point.

I see the point but I see the NFL Commissioners brother is a open gay fellow. Comish has spoken at gay rights deal and this Open Gay player don't get drafted .
GOING to be something else.
Be like my daughter dressing out in a NFL locker room and getting a shower....What are they going to think when they see him. I bet he gets his own private shower where ever he/she/it is at. Fact he might be a cross dresser??

Man sports center is annoying me with this crap. It has been on constant replay. Can't even see anything else because every second you watch you're seeing this.
