Interesting…
A new (January 2023) NCAA bylaw (11.1.1.1) states that the head coach will be held responsible. So this is not out of harmony with that by-law, at any rate, although this is not an NCAA action. This actually makes sense. The Head Coach should be responsible for the actions of his / her employees and the program he runs. He has not done anything to address the issues other than have those in the program react like children and say "they are doing it too". He has taken no accountability for those under him - none at all. So he is thus taking the punishment (if you can call it that) as a result.
JH will be gone at end of year anyway. Too much NCAA heat.A new (January 2023) NCAA bylaw states that the head coach will be held responsible. So this is not out of harmony with that by-law.
But if you think about it, this is the absolute least penalty that could be assessed while preserving the future story, as needed, that Michigan has already been punished.
To your point this reminds me of Bruce Pearl first year here at Tennessee. We all know the NCAA loves to put side stories in things. Well Tennessee was given a 2nd Seed in the NCAA tournament. Their opponent was Winthrop however Winthrop got in by beating Coastal Carolina who was coached by Tennessee's previous coach Buzz Peterson in the conference tournament championship. So Winthrop was given the 15 seed to play Tennessee in opening round. Discussions seem to indicate the NCAA was hoping to get a matchup of Buzz Peterson matching up against his former team here at Tennessee in the first round. What is the integrity damage if it is found that Michigan gave all of these illegal gained signs to South Carolina to make sure that Clemson/UT did not make the playoffs and Michigan assured themselves of making it?
To me that integrity damage is as big as gambling, it is rigging the sports outcomes.
After ESPN reported that Stalions had bought tickets to games at 12 of the 13 other Big Ten stadiums and for games involving possible College Football Playoff opponents for Michigan, the Big Ten hinted its involvement would increase through the sportsmanship policy,...
Delays on video feeds compared to live time. I doubt on crucial calls will they have time to ask Harbaughs input. Maybe a call that a coordinator coming down to a drive he might ask. Coach if we get down here you got a plan here later in drive? But not likely immediate play call.I don’t see how a simple ban from the sideline during the game is a punishment at all. Can he communicate with coaches during a game? If so, it might even be advantageous to view a game remotely and not be swept up in sideline activity.
I agree that even if he isn’t allowed to communicate with staff during the game, this is nothing more than a gesture to the other schools who demanded some action by the commissioner.

The NCAA, Georgia and Beamer doesn’t want that discuseed. if they gave the signs to USCjr, it probably stopped another conferences teams from making the playoff and has a whole different set of implications. This is why I believe they want to sweep this part under the rug for a few years. If you look at this new story from ESPN, you will see exactly the connection I have seen for myself from its occurence between (1) the news coming out about Michigan apparently stealing signs of non-B1G teams in order to the change the composition of last year's playoffs and (2) the sudden intervention of the B1G.
I don't take the reporter to grasp the import of his sentence (although I can't rule it out), but it verifies my point of when the Big 10 did what they did, and I say why they did it. The severely damaged credibility of last year's playoffs was suddenly at risk of broad public exposure.
As a matter of fact, simultaneously with B1G taking up the case, all news and discussion about the 2022 playoff angle completely and immediately disappeared nationallly.
Big Ten bans Harbaugh from sideline amid probe
The Big Ten has banned Michigan's Jim Harbaugh for the team's remaining regular-season games, while the coach and university have filed a temporary restraining order to try to stop it.www.espn.com

Agreed. Don’t be surprised at the conclusion of this “investigation” that nothing happens to Michigan. This won’t hurt their recruiting, no loss of scholarships and no bowl or playoff ban. The NCAA will conclude that by firing Stallions it did enough. This is a complete joke. The NCAA is absolutely worthless.
Harbaugh should be suspended indefinitely.
Had this been Heupel, they’d have no problem giving us the maximum punishment.
Well this clown probably wont work again lol
Why does Shuster think ABC and Home Depot gives a flying leap whether he boycotts them?
Gee pal, they'll really miss ya...
In a 13-page letter that the Big Ten sent to Michigan officials, specifically athletics director Warde Manuel, the league office and commissioner Tony Petitti outlined in no uncertain terms that Michigan both had not denied the alleged elaborate, well-planned sign-stealing, in-person scouting, spying scheme of Connor Stalions on behalf of Harbaugh's Wolverines program but that Michigan had not disputed these findings.
"[Michigan'’s November 8 response does not deny that the impermissible scheme occurred. Instead, it offers only procedural and technical arguments designed to delay accountability.
Moreover, the Big Ten document states in no uncertain terms that it has found Harbaugh's Michigan program culpable of cheating
That's what they did when Harbaugh was suspended earlier this same season. The OC, who was only suspended one game at that time, took over play calling iirc. When the OC was not available the QB coach called plays. I don't know who called defenses.Connor Stalions? I am only kidding, but I have seen video of him shouting and signaling in defensive coverages from the sidelines, along with many of his players.I guess this means the Mich Defensive Coordinatot will be the head coaching Jim's absence
He's banned from the stadium for each game. Maybe he pulls George Blum Sr and hires a surrogate to be on the sideline.Does anyone know the exact stipulations of Harbaugh's ban? Is he banned only from the sideline? Pressbox? Everywhere in the stadium? Zoom or other real time transmission of the field? Communication by radio, phone, or other method from outside the stadium?
More pissed off Michigan people! Ha!
