Michigan Investigated for Sign Stealing

Update: The conference has announced a 3-game suspension of Jim Harbaugh, though he may coach during the week. The full announcement:

The Big Ten Conference announced today that the University of Michigan has been found in violation of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy for conducting an impermissible, in-person scouting operation over multiple years, resulting in an unfair competitive advantage that compromised the integrity of competition.

LOL

That's not a punishment.
I predicted exactly that. 😂

Next, the 2022 effects of Michigan serially cheating will remain censored. Then, if Michigan can win out, the argument that they have already been punished, (which thrills the gravy train networks) will snap into effect. Finally, the NCAA -- in its own long-standing accessory-to-cheating role -- will give Michigan the Kansas-basketball treatment as the harshest possible result at some distant moment in the future. But perhaps they will take the occasion to relievedly drop the whole thing.

Doing this on a Friday afternoon while Michigan is in flight to the game. Just absolutely unhinged behavior

So the B10 is saying that by suspending Harbaugh, they are imposing the penalty on the school, and not the head coach. Is that to get around their own bylaws since there’s no evidence that directly implicates Harbaugh?

They knew it was coming, wouldn’t be surprised if the Michigan and JH lawyers have not both been camped out at the Starbucks around the corner from the courthouse waiting all day to file the already filed out injunction papers.

I’m glad Greg Sankey didn’t give Tennessee a two year bowl ban before the ncaa investigation concluded
Michigan did not get a post season ban, bruh. That's the entire purpose of this rigamarole.

Sankey did suspend Jennings once during the week after a game, and he could have easily have done the same to Dallas Turner any day this week. But that's a different story.

What is the integrity damage if it is found that Michigan gave all of these illegal gained signs to South Carolina to make sure that Clemson/UT did not make the playoffs and Michigan assured themselves of making it?

To me that integrity damage is as big as gambling, it is rigging the sports outcomes.

If all the activity was in the conference and merely bickering children, that is one thing, though it still is "rigging the outcomes". The bigger issue is around UM possibly assisting other schools to influence the playoffs. That one, if there is evidence to prove it, SHOULD have the other conferences in an uproar.

And a CFP ban…if you rigged it to get in, you should get a mini death penalty.

Time is running out on the possibility of claiming that Michigan has already been penalized, if they make the playoffs.

Seriously, you should prolly be more interested to see how the games with Pedo State and especially the "The Ohio" (or whatever they call themselves) are officiated. In case the B1G proceeds anything like the Birmingham office. But I think, to the contrary, this action relieves the B1G of having to make a decision on whether to use crooked officiating Sankey-style to determine the game outcomes. 😂 Doesn't mean they won't.

THIS ⬆️ The lawyers will laugh all the way to the bank. There isn't even an illusion of due process here.

So he's only prohibited from being in the venue, I guess the Big0 hasn't heard of phones or other instant communication.

Totally agree but I agree with the post around that aspect of this is being buried. The only saving grace is that UM lost the first game. However, the result was to get two teams from that conference in the playoffs and keep a second SEC team (or team from another conference) out, which financially benefited that conference. I would really love events to unfold that keeps that conference out of the CFP all together.

Part of me thinks the B10 did this, knowing that it won’t likely hold up in court, just to placate the other institutions in the conference.

They might be doing this like Slive suspended Pearl trying to stave off NCAA punishment?

Michigan response

Commissioner Petitti's hasty action today suggests that this is more about reacting to pressure from other Conference members than a desire to apply the rules fairly and impartially. By taking this action at this hour, the Commissioner is personally inserting himself onto the sidelines and altering the level playing field that he is claiming to preserve. And, doing so on Veteran's Day - a court holiday - to try to thwart the University from seeking immediate judicial relief is hardly a profile in impartiality. To ensure fairness in the process, we intend to seek a court order, together with Coach Harbaugh, preventing this
disciplinary action from taking effect."
