Mickey Friggin Dearstone...

That's a safe assumption, but in fairness she's not an average coach. Still, I suspect that UCONN is the only other school that would even consider paying over $1 million to lure a top coach away.
Which brings up a good point. We are bidding against ourselves.

By this logic, how much should the top NCAA men's track and field coach earn?

good point. i guess my thing is the men's track program is under the men's athletic department which is making money. women's athletic department is losing money and waiting on that check from the men every year to pay their bills. bottom line is we need ONE athletic department.

Somebody brought this up once, but aren't there only two or three women's athletic programs that actually operate in the black in the whole country?

Pretty much. I'm not arguing that she's not overpaid. I'm just saying you should consider more factors than the women's basketball balance sheet in assessing her salary.

If they are willing to pay let her get as much as she can get. I blame those cutting the checks not the ones cashing them.

Not necessarily agreeing with the premise, but she is the longest tenured coach in Knoxville and her name is on the court. Having a good relationship between the two basketball coaches can only be a good thing.

Why does their "relationship" even matter. He is the men's bball coach and she is the woman's bball coach!

They report to different Athletic Departments. gimme a break!!!

As long as the men's athletic department keeps handing that big check over to the women every year i suggest people involved with the women's athletic keep their mouth shut about how the athletic department handles things.

Amen brother!

Is on a rant this morning because Pat Friggin Summitt was not given a courtesy call to tell her we hired Cuonzo. Of course he's also bleeding from the rectum over his Lady Vols taking a backseat from the Monday PC.

This guy's stupidity is off the charts.

I don't, "hang up and Listen", the entire 990 crew are idiots and Hyamms leads the way. you can't spell douche without D-O-C anyway...

They (Morning Morons) and Hymas primarily base their shows on message board material anyways. I wonder how they will discuss this thread?????? :)

The most irritating thing I hear is Dearstone when he gets blasted for saying something stupid or just overtly innaccurate and wrong, and he then begins to spin his little argument into some entirely different topic that fits his opinion (although the argument he spins it in to still makes him look like a tool)

Dearstone is that kid "Special K" (Seth Green) in Can't Hardly Wait.
Thinks he is the sh....stuff, when in reality everyone and their mother is making fun of him.

I think he has a lesbian crush on Pat.

Hey yo girl you want some Special K?

It may be the worst sports talk show I've ever heard. The funny thing is that I've never talked to anybody that thought otherwise.

agreed. I asked them about a questionable comment one time and they jumped down my throat. It's a one way road with the morning crew.

The sports "garanimals" have the opinion that the show is all about them and little about the listener. Doc is like the bad guy in entertainment wrestling who everyone loves to hate--but he doesn't even recognize it. Show is horrid. As is some of their regular callers. Could have some drinking games to the girls' softball updates from Coalfield....

MD is a total tool. I think senility has set in. But Pat is total class. She has represented the university in a positive light for 36 years. From national championships to Olympic gold metals, she has always brought UT great publicity. She was THE pioneer in women's basketball. Hate women's basketball if you want, but don't overlook what she has done for her sport and UT. The attention she has garnered for UT over the years is enough to deserve having the court named after her. The PR she has been providing all these years is immense. She brought a national spotlight to UT. With the exception of the dbag from UConn, I have never heard another basketball coach, men or women's, speak negatively of Pat. Even Bobby Knight has talked about the high level of respect he has for Pat Summitt. I find it hard to believe that Knight would admit to respect for just anyone.

Besides, I don't believe the rantings of a deluded old man reflect the opinions of Pat Summitt. I highly doubt she was offended by not getting a call on who we hired. She had other things on her mind. Right now I'm sure she's stewing more over how the ladies played than not getting a silly phone call. She's probably ready to burst a blood vessel figuring how to get this team to perform to potential for next season. I'm sure she'll talk to Martin and welcome him to the family, but men's basketball isn't what's on her mind. She's focused on her team and next season.

Yeah, the open hatred Calhoun and Auriemma have for each other is killing UCONN.
Why exactly do they hate each other? Judging by Geno's reaction to nobody showing up for one of UCONN's tournament games, I'd guess it's something to do with Geno feeling he deserves more attention, but that's just a guess.
