Mike Edwards '09 DB

I wish Edwards would get in Hall's ear and not stop until he say, "OK....I'll come to Knoxville. But only because Rod Wilks said he'd kick my arse if I didn't."

Edwards was interviewed on the sports animal this morning. Caught the end of it, he said he was all vol right now and that another school would really have to have "IT", like UT has "IT". Was nice to hear, also said he doesn't talk much about football and recruiting with Hall, but he talks to him often about other things, and that they are good friends.

Nice to finally have a kid that is a lock to us. We usually talk about how players are other teams locks.

Does that mean he is officially a commit then?

Edwards talked about each of the four schools on his final list.

Cincinnati: "I had a great trip and was really impressed with their academics. They have over a 90% graduation rate and their academic support is great. I really like the togetherness I felt from the players and coaches while I was there. They are losing their top three defensive backs and that could mean early playing time."

Michigan: "Going to Michigan would allow me to stay in the Big Ten and go against the odds of former Glenville players. Most of my former teammates are all at Ohio State and going to Michigan would be quite a change."

Minnesota: "I am really liking their staff and would love to play for them. They are opening oup a new stadium that sounds really nice and I am also impressed with everything I have heard about their campus and their academic status."

Tennessee: I have high interest because of the connection I have with the new staff at Tennessee. Playing in the SEC would also be a great opportunity to play against some of the best teams in the country."

Has anybody else noticed that we seem to be going after an inordinate amount of DB's. Don't we need D-linemen a little more. That said, I think that the offer to Edwards is mostly:
1) To establish a relationship with Glenville, which does produce a lot of good players, and/or
2) To try to get in with Marcus Hall.

However, I think Marcus Hall is leaning Michigan.

Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville five-star offensive tackle Marcus Hall is the highest rated prospect in the Midwest yet to make his commitment. Hall took his official visit to Michigan this past weekend and now has the Wolverines at the top of his list.
“Michigan is my leader right now,” Hall told GoBlueWolverine.com’s Andre Barthwell, “I had a good time this weekend. The visit was real nice. I really didn’t expect it to be that nice. It was so organized and I was very comfortable with everyone. Michigan having a (3-9) season does not bother me. That just means they need players and I could play early.” Ohio State, Miami and Tennessee are the other schools on Hall's list. He takes his official visit to Miami on the 23rd of this month and Tennessee on the 30th.

It seems to have just worked out that way---who was available and who was a good fit. Linemen seem to be at a premium this late in the game.

And as you know, we aren't getting all of them. They recruit at least eight guys to play safety and are lucky to get two of the best from that group.

Edwards updated his current recruiting plan. "Minnesota is easily No. 1 right now. The visit was everything I thought it would be," Edwards admitted. "I just want to take my last visit and go from there. I will go to Tennessee next week and then sit down and make my decision. I will not be visit Michigan or anywhere else, it is down to Minnesota, Tennessee and Cincinnati."

hmm..I like our chances because he seems to have a new no. 1 after each visit. Plus we get his last one.

who cares if we don't get him...he'll get lost in the shuffle of elite db's we have already and the one's we'll get in the next 2-3 years.

well then you must have seen a video that I haven't. He has nothing to prove to me. I just thought that we could land better corners out there.

All the coaches have to do is get him to trust in his ability more when the ball is in the air. He'll be a good corner for us. He already has the tools to excel. He'll be good when he puts on 10 lbs of muscle.

You can never have enough DB's!!
