Mike Leach has been forced to walk the plank

Lubbock is a hard place to win.....not easy to get recruits to fly in by puddle jumper into isolated West Texas.

This. Very difficult to recruit good players in this part of the country when they all want to go to Austin ("heaven" for Texans) or Norman.

Leach, with the exception of last year, never did much more than his predecessor, and he's been there a while.

Wow. That was quick. I still do not understand how you can treat a young man that way, whether he had a concussion or not. We have always heard that Leach is a strange cat. Kinda makes you glad we didn't go down that road this time last year...
We don't know the whole story... or the unfiltered, unspun, unmolested story, I should say.

On a fluke play with Michael Crabtree. Other years against Texas:

2005 (w/o Crabtree): L 17-52
2006 (w/o Crabtree): L 31-35
2007 (w/ Crabtree): L 43-59
2009 (w/o Crabtree): L 24-34

You say fluke, I say Crabtree made a phenomenal football move on that cornerback. Doesn't show up any different in the record book...still a win.

It was a good play by Crabtree...and a good win for Texas Tech.

Would have never happened if the Texas linebacker hadn't dropped an easy interception on the play immediately prior to Crabtree's touchdown though.

Funny how he had no due process...this should be a warning against taking on any relative of an ESPN analyst. TT fired him before the court hearing, because they were going to come out on the losing end of it and it would cost them $800K. TT decided to save itself $800,000 and will probably never see a bowl game again. I wish I would have bet on the Alamo bowl now. TT will lose by 30+ at least.

Leach is a werido, but to fire someone solely on a disgruntled players word and not give due process is a little scary.

If you think Leach is going to lose a penny due to the timing of this firing, then you're crazy. If anything, he will probably end up with more money due to the timing of this firing. Nevertheless, due process is something for the courts. An employer does not have to give an employee due process to fire them unless it is specifically addressed in an employment agreement.

Some lucky school is gonna get an ticked off offensive genius with something to prove.

Offensive Genius my *ss! Give Texas Tech an SEC Schedule for a couple of years and see if people still describe him as a genius! :shaking2:

To be fair, you'd have to give him SEC talent as well. I'd actually like his chances of putting up points then, but unless he get's a phenomenal D coordinator, it wouldn't matter.

Would that be one of the nebulous "football moves" previously included in the idiotic NFL rule outlining the definition of a reception?

:lolabove: I've always wondered about those. They are football players on a football field playing football. Isn't anything they do a football move?

Leach was the offensive coordinator at Kentucky in 97 and 98, which were the only two times UK has ever passed for more than 4,000 yards in one season. Texas Tech has led the nation in offense 3 times under Leach and led the nation in passing 5 times under Leach

He'll sue...and they'll probably settle.

They guy had a strained relationship with Tech's athletic department for a long time anyway.

They didn't want him there...but, after going 11-2 last year, they didn't have much choice but to keep him around.

It was time to cut the cord anyway...this just served as a convenient excuse.

I dont see Mike leach settling for anything unless he was in the wrong. He seems pretty stubborn and he does a law degree so he knows what he is doing.

Having a law degree doesn't make him an expert in all legal matters. He has legal representation that'll handle this for him.

I'd bet he settles with the school, gets some coin, and moves on to some other irrelevant college football destination.
