Mike Leach has been forced to walk the plank

Leach was going to bolt at the first decent job he was offered anyway.

Weren't there interested parties last year, and he signed an extension and got a raise instead of talking to them. Maybe I'm wrong. I figured he would have been gone after last year.

Screwy situation over one apparently lazy ass entitlement mentality player and his whiny daddy. Leach sealed his fate wen he filed a suit to coach. That suit was against his freaking employer. He had a prayer to let the facts come to light had he left it alone. Makes me think the facts are dodgy.

Leach is a loony and the kid just sucks, but the prick here is Ctaig James with his whining about parenting first. His kid was in no danger and clearly believed to be an attitude issue by all the staff. My kid goes that route and he has me to answer to and we'll handleit quietly, mano a mano, with the coach.

They should go after the guy from Houston. He knows the recruiting area, and he likes to throw the ball even more than Texas Tech already does.
He'd be an ideal fit for them.

This.

If it's not Kevin Sumlin from Houston or Art Bryles from Baylor I would be highly suprised.

There might have been, maybe I am wrong. His name may have come up but my guess is he wasn't the top two or three choices on their list.

Kick his butt T-Bass!

I agree with you. He was ready to get out of Lubbock and was actively seeking other jobs. However, the way Tech did this reflects poorly on him as a coach and could jeopardize his ability to be hired as a head coach due to allegations against him...true or not. It took Neuheisel a while to get back in college football as a head coach due to a wrongful termination lawsuit. It would have been better to part ways last year, but with the James allegations, this could hinder Leach's career. I think that is why this is going to be very ugly before it is over.

I think Leach going the route of seeking an injunction will hinder him as much as anything would. As BPV said all he had to do was let the facts come to light and he would have been in decent shape unless there was more to the story that would make it look worse for Leach (which I doubt).

You forgot to add that Leach has been looking around too, let's not act as if the man was removed from a position where he was perfectly happy.

Can T tech do any better? I doubt it. The bottom line is there was friction between the admin and Leach and he gave them all the reason they needed to let him go. I bet they'll pay Leach some money for it but I'm positive they have taken that into consideration and decided to move forward anyway.

Why did he want out? Primarily the AD and the administration. It's been a joke how he has been dealt with there starting back last year.

What exactly did the AD and the admin do?

Usually when there is friction it comes from both directions.

Texas Tech AD Gerald Meyers has been upset with Leach after Leach tried pursuing the Washington job and then when Leach rejected the initial contract extension last year. The word around Lubbock was that they were really expecting Leach to be hired by another school and their initial contract extension was very low and almost insulting for a Big 12 Head Coach. The perception was that the AD was really hoping Leach would be gone last year and they could hire someone else.

It has been speculated that Sonny Dykes is their next coach. He was Leach's OC a couple of years ago and his dad had success at Texas Tech as the head coach and still lives in the Lubbock area.

Long story short: TTU will say they fired Leach for insubordination because he refused to issue the apology they asked for. TTU saves 2.4 Mil ($800,000 due tomorrow and the $400,00 per year left on the contract.) Adam James will still be mediocre WR, and his daddy can be a stage parent with the next coach. Leach finds a decent Div I job, and TTU rolls the dice on a new coach.

Wow, I just can't believe a spoiled brat can get his coach fired over something like this. He is not a kid he is an adult and to have his dad on national TV whining over the way he was treated is just unbelievable.

You cannot mistreat an adult, if Craig felt he was being abused HE CAN LEAVE!! TT you just threw your program in the crapper!

Yeah let's throw our offensive players' NFL prospects down the drain...

Why? The offense he runs is just the West Coast on Steroids, just about every play is out of the Norm Chow/Lavell Edwards playbook.

"I will say this, I would not want to be Adam James. Those players love Leach."

Someone said this earlier and it didn't quote when I posted. This is what I was responding to.

I think you are dead on with this. That poor kid took it too far and I can't see how this is true. Even 'ol Holtzy got it right last night when he said "guy's been there 10 years and this is the first time this happened? I need more information before commenting on this", Yet, TT goes ahead and fires him. They look scared to death with that move.
