Mike Leach has been forced to walk the plank

It's obvious you have some sort of Sadistic grudge against Mike Leach, but that's your business. As I said earlier the System works, and is a branch of Chow/Edwards, another system that has been proven, which has produced NFL QB's. The Air Raid has won championships - 2000 Oklahoma, with a QB JUCO Transfer QB that couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. The System also continues to produce Big Numbers with low levels of talent, MTSU, AZ, TT, etc.

It's obvious you live in Kentucky and are therefore completely convinced that Mike Leach's system produces good NFL players, which is funny to almost anyone outside your state.

I get sick to death of people like you putting out mis-information on Tim Couch and his NFL career. Tim got the hell beat out of him in the NFL because he was on an expansion team. He led the Browns to the playoffs before being hurt at season's end. Elbow/shoulder injuries follow.....career over.
I get sick to death of fans of trash college programs trying to pump up the garbage their worthless teams produce. I guess we're both going to be exhausted.

Yeah, the 13 whole points OU scored in the BCS title game against Florida State indicates offense was really that team's strength. Funny that they won that title after Leach left, but went 7-5 with Jesus Mike calling the plays.

As I have same repeatedly, and will do so again, the System produces the most with the least available talent. The System was designed around the strengths of a football team, just like the Triple Option, Veer, West Coast, Run and Shoot, etc. Now its obvious that most top tier teams claim to run a "Pro-Style Offense" to get recruits to join up, and therefore put Mike Leach ran teams at a disadvantage, and with lesser talent. But the funny thing is these teams continuously put up big numbers, but are derided by fans like you. Other systems can work in the NFL, but of course the NFL is unfortunately as I will say again full of Coaching Incest.

Hatvol's post after Fulmer was fired...

I would be making phone calls to representatives of the following individuals, in order:

1. Gary Patterson.
2. Lane Kiffin.
3. Todd Graham.
4. Brian Kelly.
5. Jim Haslett.
6. Steve Sarkisian.
7. Mike Leach.
8. Brent Venables.
9. Jim Harbaugh.
10. Mike Riley.

Peace hat :peace2:

Which is exactly what we don't want here. They continuously put up big numbers and suck in the NFL, or don't even get a chance Sonny Cumbie-style. Which brings me back to my original point: having him here would ruin the NFL prospects of a lot of our players, and wouldn't help any of them. Then, after they sucked in the NFL, our talent level would only get worse.

In all fairness there were many people putting Leach on their list.

He was the flavor of the week for a while. The more he was exposed to the spotlight in the many job openings last year, it was evident he is a damned Looney Toon.

Didn't Aikman and Manning have the same issues?

It's possible to get superior talent with the System he runs, but it is portrayed by the Media as that way. Urban Meyer runs a spread-option, how many teams run that in the NFL? He continues to draw in NFL-Talent, baring his recent "Heart Problems"

Yeah I would have put him on my list too i guess. After I saw the espn interview with him about all the pirate stuff I knew he was kinda weird tho...

Wait for Tebow to suck in the NFL and see what happens to that...not to mention that we don't have the significant recruiting advantage of being in Florida

Seventh out of how many possible coaches?
Not that many. When putting a list like that together, you have to take fan reaction into account. His brand of idiocy plays well with fans who are more concerned with hanging 80 points on Texas State than winning championships. We've got a few of those. My commentary when it was reported Tennessee might actually interview him shows what my opinion of his hiring would have been.

Of course when we had the offensive woes we had, someone that had an offense putting out gaudy numbers seemed appealing.

He draws speed on offense.

And he has an NFL Tight End at QB.

That was my reasoning for wanting him. Glad we got who we got in hind sight though. My #2 has become my #1.

Yes, but there is a wide variety of coaches available for such a Distinguished program. Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily defending Leach as he is how do I properly define him.. Strange - Pirates.. But various types of offenses work, if equipped with the right players. Leach's variation of Offense, Mumme, Hatcher, Leach, have been plagued by horrendous defenses, and inadequate coaching on the defensive side, in part to the Head coaches having little Defensive experience and coaching loyalties - Joe Lee Dunn.

1. Agreed.
2. Disagree. Think he leached on to the success of the in-state recruiting of USC. I think Kiffin is given more credit than he deserves there.
3. Agreed.
4. Agreed.
5. I like Haslett, but I think he stays in STL.
6. Disagree. Once again I think that in-state talent makes him look better.
7. Would be my #1 choice right now.
8. I am iffy on him. If he is a HC/DC and leaves the OC alone to do his job, then I am ALL for it. Great recruiter as well.
9. Disagree.
10. Agreed. His players play well for him, no matter the situation.

If you took out Kiffin and Sarkisian and put Gruden and Gundy in their spots respectively, that would be the perfect list for me. I would also add Tim Brewster as a candidate with the job he has done with the Golden Gophers this season.

:)

Leach's offense has something to do with his awful defenses. It's a total coaching philosophy that just won't win consistently against respectable competition.
