I think you hit the nail on the head here. Matthews’ talent is obvious but there are reasons that he wasn’t getting playing time over less talented guys. Strange though that he would obviously be a favorite to start next year and decides to split. Either there is a major issue in the WR room or it’s a negotiating ploy like with Boo or there’s outside tampering with a big money offer. Any way you look at it, it’s a mess.

My opinion only but I said it right after the game Saturday. Something didn’t look right with the team. No excitement at all and they just looked like they weren’t interested. OSU was no doubt more talented but that doesn’t account for the malaise that I saw. Something just wasn’t right and all of this chaos may have been brewing in the background. Don’t know that we’ll ever know but there are signs of it.

Who gives a **** if he wasnt a great head coach? OSU didnt hire him to be a head coach. The point is he WAS a head coach AND a coordinator at the highest levels. The experience was there. We promoted some dude from within that had never even been a coordinator!

The premise was OSU went out and got a name OC without knowing the reasoning for the opening. Chip Kelly was there and OSU capitalized. There is also a background history between the two longtime friends so it was low hanging fruit.

There are literally hundreds of guys in the portal who could catch more than 7 balls in a year here.

With Dylan Sampson we showcased the run game this year. I believe many of these receivers had visions of being that WR that everyone talked about. But it didn't happen.

Some of it was that the WR could not get open, some of it was the QB didn't see them when they were opened but most of it was that we had a top-notch running back that could get the yards.

They all are betting on that another team believes they are as good as they think they are. Time will tell. We will be okay.

Look, if staying positive at all costs is what you have to do to cope, I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise. Just don't be too disappointed after next season when we're sitting here at 7-5 or 6-6.

I can't help but wonder if Belichick hands are in this MM portal entry. Billy is as dirty as it gets and I can see Carolina's AD and NIL backers saying close the open border. Hence, get to the fam, the agent, etc

Wrong. He quit UCLA cause their NIL is awful and he'd be coaching with his hands tied behind his back. He left UCLA, they didn't get rid of him

Which fired P4 coach who calls plays was available at the time? Heupel runs the offense but I’m interested to hear who was available at the time.

What is interesting about this take is that, even after our game against them, the former Oregon and NFL head coach Chip Kelly has lead all that talent to over 250 fewer yards and only four points more than our guy who was promoted from within who was never an OC in his life. Also, he managed to do so against an easier schedule.

He was 35-34 and stepped down before being fired. Which part was NIL as he was there for 6 years. Majority of those losses before NIL took place.
