I think it's at least possible that the Matthews contingent saw Boo Carter getting a new deal, with some guarantees of playing on offense .... and this is a ploy for a new NIL deal and more money. It certainly does add leverage in his favor. We'll see what happens.

There is no point to be missed. Kelly had quality experience with extreme success in specific areas. Oversimplifying the argument as if Kelly didn’t have success in both the NFL and NCAA at the highest levels to compare the 2 coaches is missing the point

You may have this wrong. Congress is not involved in this issue. I will agree the courts have played a big role in NIL but the courts pretty much have screwed up lots of things lately.

It wouldn't surprise me if the NCAA powers that be are just sitting in a big room laughing their a$$ off watching the universities and fans piss and moan about tampering . Kinda like, you asked for it and now you've got it---deal with it.

Congress was asked to set guidelines since the ncaa didn't have a clue and they declined to do their duty.

I agree. I understand these kids are gonna go where they are going to get paid the most. But I believe agents have way more to do with this entering the portal Thing than the actual players.

The player going deep wasn’t open until Nico scrambled btw, causing the DB to crash in. Every other route had a player sitting between him and the WR. Nico scrambled when he saw the middle open up. It wasn’t a good play, but you had to cherry pick something.

If you do give in to a "threat to leave unless I get my way," you're actually "coaching" the players and showing them a "play that works."

For instance, Nico might help us keep Matthews but next year Nico picks up papers and...... Matthews helps keep Nico.

While I don't see a good alternative, I don't think that sets up a good balance of power for the team if a guy just "threatened" the coaches with leaving in the off-season and won.

I’ll say the same thing I said in another post. This offense doesn’t have pre designed routes. It’s based on receivers running a certain route based on what they’re given, and the qb must also be in tune with this. Some guys that we bring in the portal are not miraculously going to retain more of the offense in a few months of practice than our guys that had years in no matter if they are more athletic. This is not an offense you just toss new players in like a regular ole pro style. Maybe CJH will change it up? Idk.
