Mike Matthews to portal? [He’s staying]

Squirrel, Mike Matthews and there were reports of Boo flirting with the portal. Half our RB room dipped. Losing RBs doesn't hurt us as we are looking good there but it did embrass us in the playoff game by having no depth.

MM's had 2 TDs in 7 touches, looked good in a crowded room - just didn't get enough playing time. Now that room has opened up and our presumed starter entered the portal. It's definitely a problem.
Here’s the sad reality.
This offense runs at its best when we play a limited number of receivers. We can discuss why all we want but the take away is that it sucks for developing the next generation

The posters who blame CJH for anything these 4 years should put down the crack pipe
Quite the contrary. Leaders lead, leaders take accountability. As a leader when things are good you praise your people. When things are bad you look inwards towards yourself. This statement about “not blaming Heupel” is overplayed, childish, and void of responsibility regardless of what heupel inherited. He IS the leader and he gets paid well to be. I’ll bet he understands this, not sure why it’s hard for people here to understand it. I run a business. If someone does something stupid while I’m not there it’s “MY” fault. I should’ve trained them better, maybe I should’ve already fired them, maybe I should’ve simply been there to catch it. Either way, my fault. It really is that simple.

Exactly, if you were WR5 or worse, then you are not seeing the field much

Yeah he could be good, but if he leaves it is not like an All-American is leaving. A 5-star who gained that notiriarity against high school kids and hasn't produced much yet is leaving.

Let him leave and go get the kid from NC State, way better, already proven, stronger, faster.
Already with A&M

CJH can't make the OL stop with the false starts or the WR's not drop passes. You are assuming the coaches aren't leading or teaching, what do you do when an employee doesn't want to be trained? You get rid of them and replace them with better.

Sound familiar? Kind of like the whole secondary last year....

This never ending free agency has to stop. It is killing the game. I was looking forward to season tickets next year, but now I am thinking not.

Does anyone think this is a good thing?
This. I used to go to the occasional game but if this stuff keeps up, I can’t imagine shelling out the kind of money it takes to buy season tickets and the “talent tax”.

Most of our portal guys have not signed with another team. Better hurry if they wanna make spring ball. I sm not sure what the enrollment dates are but they have to be getting close

The premise was OSU went out and got a name OC without knowing the reasoning for the opening. Chip Kelly was there and OSU capitalized. There is also a background history between the two longtime friends so it was low hanging fruit.
... Way out there, but isn't Mike Gundy available? Wasn't he seen as some kind of offensive savant in years past? Could he and CJH blend and create an evolved version of both their successes, in a perfect world??
Asking for a friend, but fr fr

Does anyone think the reason all of our receivers left is because they know Nico can't get them the ball and TN is stuck with him like we were with JG?
Probably because they see the writing on the wall they were buried on the depth chart and we don't ay that many receivers

Webb goes to Wake Forest and then Maryland

Nathan Leacock visited Stanford. White has a good chance to go back home to Auburn or similar school struggling.

This is very telling

I’ve seen rumors of squirrel maybe going to bama.

Gundy is washed. The game has passed him by in a big way.

CJH wants to be a run first team, he’s about to get his wish. Get ready for 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

I am sure CJH will. Would love to see the NC State kid come here. We need a Hyatt speed type.

Also Pope can't make these guys not drop the ball, we were top 5 in the country for dropped passes
It is amazing people seem to forget the drops. So many of them changed games. We traditionally have had WR that have great hands. But this especially was a boat load of drops.

There were some drops for sure and that’s going to happen. That said a lot of those drops were very tough catches that aren’t always going to be made. If you judge everything “if you can touch it you can catch it” you aren’t being very realistic. I’ll add, Nico doesn’t throw the most catchable ball even on the routine ones.
