Milton in the NFL

I think this guy is going to get some serious looks and consideration from several NFL scouts and teams. Yeah I know he’s got some weaknesses, as does everyone, but He’s got the size, a lot of the intangibles, arm strength, great character and poised leadership. Pretty even keel guy if you ask me.

I’m not saying he’s the next Patrick Mahomes, but I can see him starting out as a serviceable backup and playing his way into a starting position with the right system, situation, and coach. You look around the NFL today and gotta think Joe could hold his own with at least all of the backups and even some of the starters out there. I mean Purdy and Levis weren’t exactly lighting it up in college but look how their game has translated to the NFL.
I think JM can have a career in the NFL. He obviously has the arm talent, it's really more about understanding the situation need. He has improved and continues to improve and as long as he does that part he will definitely get a shot. It will be when he stops improving and keeps making the same mistakes will be his undoing. Right now I see him continuing to improve.

That's where his strong arm would help. I could see him getting drafted by Chicago or Pittsburgh or the Jets or Giants or packers.

It definitely helps and will be the only reason he even gets a shot. His arm is stronger than just about every QB I’ve ever seen at the college or pro level (maybe Elway was as strong), and I’m in the older crowd.

BUT,
—if he can’t learn to make pre and post-snap reads quickly so he knows where the ball should go quickly after his drop, and
—learn to hit receivers right out of their break instead of waiting to see clear separation…,

He will not stick in the NFL in any capacity as a QB.

It’s a whole different ballgame.

Did the Coaches get mad at him when he hit Nimrod the other night for that TD?
Oh come on!!! Really!!! He makes a couple of passes and I’m glad he does. Do you really think they aren’t holding him back because of his ability so he doesn’t make a mistake????? You saw what this coach does with this offense and now they are playing like this. It’s obvious man!!!

Then so many on here would have to admit their vitriolic comments were wrong...and that aint happening.
I would be included. Forgot about the supposed rib injury. Either way its clearly a different guy out there running the ball when for a while he didn't run at all. I think it's helped his game. Guys aren't dropping passes either. He never got into a rhythm and they couldn't either.

He will get drafted late. His laser beams will be less of a problem in the NFL. My question is how quickly he can process at the NFL level. Our offensive pace is something he isn’t great with, and it seems like it causes him issues sometimes being calm. The NFL has a lot more time between snaps. I’m curious about how that pace difference affects him. Hope he can make it. Physically has all the tools and seems like a good guy. We need all the NFL guys we can get.

He’s talked about among scouts as having the best physical tools they’ve ever seen. Every NFL qb coach dreams of having a player with that arm and build. He’ll be drafted well over his rank and hopefully have a career in the NFL. He’s a very flawed player at reading situations and reacting with speed, but he has a physical ability that is undeniable.

Mr. Irrelevant last pick in the draft
That’s your evidence that he didn’t play well in college? A guy named Tom Brady was selected a whopping one round ahead of Purdy. Scouts do stupid crap every year and that has zero relation, more often than not, to a player’s college production.

My point is college play in general whether good or bad doesn’t always translate to the NFL.

Last Saturday, according to the former Gator and reality show host in the booth, Milton is a top 10 pick in next year's draft. Jesse knows football????

Honestly if Will Levis got drafted for his measurables (I know he looked great Sunday) why not Joe. Joe has actually shown more in the college ranks than Levis did and his measurables are better.

What is obvious is that most of you can't grasp the concept that we do not have the same caliber seperation or athletes outside. Nor do we have enough protection for many of the deep throws. Yes Joe has had his own struggles but we are limited because of those 2 things more so than the QB. Some of you are likely the same who said Hyatt's stats were because he was wide open by scheme. It's because he knew how to run a route and make a defender turn. None of pur wr's have the speed Hyatt had. None of our wr's have Tillman's go up and get it trait. The closest right now is Nimrod. Keyton had regressed.

Maybe at TE, never as a qb. He would make Jamarcus Russell look like Tom Brady. He gets by on his size, arm strength and athleticism in college but the NFL would feast on him. He holds the ball far too long, takes way too long on the plays he actually does look for a secondary target., stares down receivers, absolutely cannot throw the ball down the middle of the field and about 50 other things that would make him a nightmare against a NFL defense. He has been in college 6 dang years and while he does not seem to lose games on his own he sure dont take the team on his back and win them either.

Oh my God don’t get me started on Ridder. Prime example of why you don’t draft inaccurate guys who put up good numbers in c-USA or AAC or whatever to be your franchise qb. Would take Milton in a heartbeat. Pitts and Mack hollins have gotten behind defenses all year and Ridder can’t get the ball that far without giving it to the other team smh.
C-USA is okay. Daunte Culpepper, Chad Pennington, Byron Leftwich, Brett Favre

The projections for Joe are all over the place. Some have him in the 1st round. Others going late.

Feels like 3rd/4th round most likely, but who knows. Anthony Richardson got taken 4th overall last year based almost entirely on measurables. If Richardson can go that high, it's certainly not far-fetched to think Milton could rocket up to the 1st or 2nd round. That said, there's probably a limit with both Drake Maye and Caleb Williams in the draft.

Worst case for him is he sticks around long enough as a backup and earns the pension. Best case is he gets with a coach/system that will take the time to develop him. Dobbs has bounced around and made a nice living and eventually earned a shot to play some. I think Joe probably follows a similar path.

When Nico doesn't light it up next season you will all understand. It is not all the QB. We do NOT have the elite play makers we had last year. Hell, HH numbers would not be what they were without Hyatt, McCoy, Tillman and an NFL 1st rd Tackle. That is a LOT of talent to replace. Squirrel is the only proven WR we have. The talent doesn't match last years team. JOE has made some mistakes but he has gotten better. I know he is a 6th year guy but in reality he hasn't played alot of football in his 6 years. He has the talent, but live action is how you truly grow. 8-4 to 9-3 is about what most expected and we are on pace for that. Continuing to trash the guy just makes you look bad. Enjoy the season, not much time left.
