Milton moving forward

Hope Milton lights it up.
Defense stay home. No use u embarrassing yourselves again unless u can prove us wrong.

Really don't know what to expect next week............I really don't.

Of course, you don't. You're not a prophet. Now me, on the other hand, I got a cracked crystal ball. And the darn thing even predicted we'd lose the Cock fight. Check my stats I mean my post in Freak's predict the score thread last week. Seriously, I get why you feel that way, probably if I wasn't so orange saturated I would feel the same way.

He had several overthrows saturday, I still don’t trust him as the starter. He just
does not respond well under true pressure in a game. JMO

I think some of that was due to him pressing it trying to play catch up and needed to score quick because we were down big, knowing the play offs where on the line but with the way the D played Sat. it was obvious early we weren't coming back, even if Hooker never got hurt
He should've just padded his stats and took what the D gave him. He'll have a little more game tape and point out his mistakes. The fact that he's looking to run and not scared to make contact is promising..
Guess we'll see what's up Saturday.

I disagree. He hasn't been taxed physically this year, and his frame looks more durable than Hooker's. I may be in the minority, but I always thought Hooker looked a little awkward running the ball; his little "hop, skip" into the endzone made me go "WTH"?

I believe Milton will run the ball 8-10 times against Vandy. And the backfield will be leaned on heavily because:

1. It will keep them honest if they have to defend the run every play.
2. Contact for Milton might get him more into the groove of the game and settle him down; take a little off his fast ball delivery.

We can't make a living off of 70-yard bombs, whether complete or not, it puts our defense right back on the field, and we saw Saturday how that works for us.
We need to hammer Vandy physically, and take the deep shot when they stack the box.

First, it's not normal to tear an ACL as a qb, just making a quick cut in the backfield - SC field/turf is garbage. Hooker also had some daylight in front of him when he went down. We will likely be running the ball - but with our backs - quite a bit against Vandy for obvious reasons. Joe might have 8 to 10 runs, but they will not be designed runs. To some degree it is up to Joe, as many of our running plays are reads - where he can keep it if he desires. I expect maybe a couple of these Saturday, but he can and sometimes does run out of pocket when his protection breaks down. He is capable as a runner - we can't afford an injury at qb.

"We can't make a living off of 70-yard bombs" - don't tell me, tell Joe. He has lots of opportunities to complete shorter routes - but seems to have an affinity for the bomb. We just need to win against Vandy. This will be another game like SC where our opponent will be on fire to beat us - we are decimated on defense and now also on offense.

Vandy has come on and is playing really good football of late. We will need our Mid Tennessee fans to help us. Should be great weather and now a very intriguing game.

He finds himself at the head of team with broken dreams and reeling after last night.

He can lead us....
He can finally do the things he set out to do.
Prove to himself that he's more than just a big arm and prove to everyone else that he is a good QB.l

I'll be honest. I don't have a great deal of confidence in him.
But I can't tell the future, so I'm allowing myself to imagine "what if"

If he goes 2-0 these last games....then he comes into what could be another magical year in 2023.

Right now....like it or not. Joe Milton III is the one dude that can bring us back to the light.
Like it I do.

Throw Joe, throw.

A win at Vandy and a major bowl victory would do a lot for everyone’s confidence in him. Unfortunately I just don’t think he has the mental makeup to be a great QB. When the pressure is on he crumbles.

A poster suggested onside kicking it when Tenn scored.
Should've tried it, honestly.
It honestly is higher probability than a defense that allows the opponent to SCORE 9 OUT OF ****ING 10 TIMES!!!

Sorry sorry I’m still coming to terms with the defense we witnessed.

I get your apprehension @DaddyChad, but it's been well over a season since we saw Joe be QB1 going into the game. I'm putting trust in Josh and Golesh to have Milton more dialed in for Vandy.

Filling Hendon’s shoes is no easy task given just how bad the defense is but Milton has been handed an opportunity to earn the team’s trust and solidify himself as the leader of the offense going into next season.

That being said, if we see a return of old Joe; I think Heupel will need to take a hard look at the portal in the off-season.

Would make him the clear frontrunner over those very very talented youngsters who will be in the mix next Fall camp

Joe is fast and mobile, He has a cannon for an arm. He needs however to no throw short passes a hundred miles an hour. Just put a lighter touch on short passes.

He could hit 3-5 50+ yard completions per game and people would still cry and b!tch about him missing a short pass or two.
After the absolute clown show in 2 of the last three games (referring to the team as a whole, NOT HH), all I want to see is a win. Jus get is that 10th W. I don’t care how pretty it looks on the field

Run the dang ball! We need to eat up time and keep our D off the field. Need long possessions to wear Vandy down then open it up late when we get a cushion. Otherwise, Big Joe had over throws, three and outs and we will see a mobile QB create issues for our D. Hopefully I’m wrong but I think we get the same old Joe. Plus, can he get us in the right play if we need to audible?
