It must pain you to see a gay black kid put a pretty white girl in her place.
That dumb girl put it out there and you cry foul when it is used against her. Grow up.
I dont think he did anything wrong. Freedom of the press. If you don't like your dirty laundry in the public eye, then don't hang it out to dry for others to see.
Like I said, you're part of the problem. Intelligently, you have to know this is not how these issues should be resolved, but emotionally, you must feel like you have skin in the game to find this behavior in any way acceptable.Everyone is the press in today's world. He is protected by the 1st amendment for his actions.

I dont hold a grudge. Im not involved. That's between those two kids. It's unfortunate what happened to her, but she should understand that her actions caused it. I hope she goes on to have a great life.I don't care that he's a gay black kid. More accurately, he's a gay kid of mixed race. I'm sure he's faced many hardships, and on that point, I do feel empathy for him. But it still doesn't justify his behavior. She made a mistake at 15, and she apologized for it. Perhaps you should grow up and learn what forgiveness is? Nothing is solved by holding a grudge.
I agree that I don't think she should be cancelled, but we don't control that. People can and will judge her for her actions. That's why kids need to learn that everything they say and do should has consequences beyond their control.
I once brought a cap gun to school and was nearly expelled. I thought the punishment was stupid but my opinions didn't matter on that subject.

I have sympathy for her, but I do draw some judgements about her cavalier use of the N word. She knows it's hurtful but thought it was ok to throw around. I doubt that was even close to the first time she said it if she was recording it and sending it to people. All said, we all make mistakes as kids and I hope she goes on to great things. I just hope she doesn't deflect blame for her own personal responsibility in what grief it caused her. That would be a mistake that could cause her further problems down the road. You seem to be pretty judgmental.

I partially agree with this statement. UT would have been better served to pull her scholarship but let her remain as a student if she completed some racial sensitivity training. As an institute of higher learning, they have an obligation to teach. The villain in this story is story is the University of Tennessee and the media. The guy that started this is just a POS and will probably always be one.

I hesitate to weigh in on how wrong this kid was without more facts because there was some suggestion that he went to the school and they did nothing about it. If so, I sympathize with his position with being made to endure racial epithets by a high school that failed to do the right thing. That said, I think he will suffer consequences for this down the road. It might cost him job opportunities down the road. Employers may very well hesitate to hire someone who is so likely to publicize things like this. I wouldn't have handled it how he did but I dont live in his skin or his shoes.
I assumed she had a scholarship when she was removed from the squad. I suppose I could be wrong about that. But the news article i read said she was told to withdraw from school or have her admission withdrawn. She then went to community college.Have you done any research into this or even endeavored to read the NYT article in question? You seem to know absolutely nothing about the situation; Mimi was removed from the UT cheer squad (which does not, in most instances, give members scholarships that would cover their entire tuition) but not her admission to the university itself was not revoked.
You are not at all bothered by her use of the N word but incensed with anyone who would dare to punish her for it. I dont bother to wonder whether you are an adult. I know the answer. But you dont hesitate to weigh in how wrong she was. You are one in the same with this boy. I hope you arent an adult, because that would be pathetic.
Why should they pull her scholarship at all for something she said 3 years ago for which she has repeatedly apologized? Why should they pull her scholarship but let her remain a student based on a class she would be forced to take?
