Minneapolis wants to disband police

It’s going to be a hell of a lot less cops.
Ah, so let's give a smaller force a larger forces workload. That's a recipe for success, nothing says public relations like a bunch of overworked stressed out officers who feel unnapreciated.

Oh no... I want to see them disband the whole thing. No cops. Not even Mall Patrol.

Chester was nearly always with Mister Dillon, and saved his life a few times.
I read somewhere that Dillon was shot around 50 times during the run of that program. I think he got around 17 or 18 in the left arm. He actually did get severely wounded in the right leg during WWII at Anzio in Italy. Because of his height of about 6'6" or 7 , he was ordered the first man off the boat to check water depth at the landing. It was above his waist I think.

I would say the MPD cops will just trade uniforms. And if a big enough stink is caused regarding hiring them, how are you going to market these jobs to other candidates? Come here and get **** pay to be yelled at and possibly fired when politically expedient.

So nothing will change except that the burden of policing the city will shift entirely to the sheriff's department.

So the MPD will disband and the county Sheriff will need to hire a city PD's worth of people to cover the metro area.
Wonder who some candidates might be?

Nothing gets by you does it?

Sounds to me like they're looking to dismantle the department and its leadership. The culture of an organization starts at the top.

Perhaps it will be a wake up call to the fat cats who drive a desk and wear stars on their collar.

So if national riots were to start again there and there are no police, who are the going to call? The National Guard? Would that not be the irony of all ironies?

So:
1. Defund the MPD.
2. County hires former MPD cops.
3. ???
4. Racism solved.

Gonna take all that funding for the cops and the revenue they generated by policing and spread the wealth. Well, except the revenue they generated by policing of course.

This is going to be fun. We all get to sit back and watch an entire metropolis self destruct. Don't get many chances like this in the first world when there isnt a world war raging so enjoy!

Police should go on strike. Complete shutdown, and ask for raises.

Let the insanity begin.

How long until they would be asked to come back?

This is my thought, as well. Something tells me this "defunding" will have the reverse effect.

We're talking about politicians. The new version of police in Minneapolis will cost more money than the old version.

Right, I imagine the Sheriffs department is about to expand significantly.

Do these simpletons think they're just going to let it be the wild west?
This is actually correct, the police departments only have jurisdiction inside their cities in which they serve vs. sheriffs departments have state wide jurisdiction. Also the police departments aren't required for a city and they cost tax payers millions of dollars each year vs. sheriffs departments which are funded by the state and receive lots of federal grants ( i/e the police departments are just an added expense and youre already protected by the sheriffs office). Not to mention, state police patrol the highways. A lot of cities are doing away with police departments ( especially smaller ones ), Minneapolis just found a reason to finally jump. Now I'm not saying I agree with it but it's not like there won't be any police.

Ive actually seen city police, county police, and sheriffs here in Georgia. But we are close to Atlanta so the larger presence makes sense.

No doubt. Will be interesting to see their quotas for trannys, non-native-born officers etc. and if they carry guns or have any kind of training besides sensitivity training or have to speak Somali.

No doubt the final version will be full of bells and whistles which aren't in the discussion now. But it is intriguing for Minneapolis to use the 911 call data history to lay the blueprint on the future version of police..
